Ninja Kitteh
My brother has a Gameboy Advance SP. I don't know much about them, because I never had one.

When he plugs the system in to charge it, the light won't come on and it will not charge.

I'm pretty sure the SP and DS chargers are interchangable, so I tried to charge my DS up with it and it worked, so the plug's not broken.

Has this ever happened to anybody before or can someone tell me what is wrong with it?

Well you already eliminated the cable, so it must be something wrong with his SP. But I dont know muchabout SP either so hopefully someone else knows.

hm..... I wonder if your battery could be dead.... and needs to be replaced.

Did you try calling Nintendo's help line?

If/when you find out, please post up what the problem is.

hmmm... It could be the battery. Does anybody know where I could get one?

EDIT : How long do these batteries last? He only bought it about a week after I bought my DS, so it's only like 5 months old.

its supposed to last about 500 charges. But Lithium Ion batteries can be messed up if overcharged, or if not run down and then charged back up.

They are not like the Nickel Cadmium..... those batteries suck. But you can get less charge out of Lithium Ion if you do not wear the battery down and charge it all the way up.

About getting a new battery.... I think Nintendo sells them. I might be able to get you one.

Best bet is to call the Nintendo help # and ask about service parts.

^ battery would be my bet as to what the problem is as well.

Ok, I called up the Nintendo number and told them the problem. They said that it's not a battery problem and that it's an internal problem. They're going to send me a new SP and charger for free. :D

Yeah, I know! I was surprised that they didn't need the reciept, but later I was, like DUH, they just read the model number and can tell when you bought the system.

No they didn't. :( They just said that it was something internal and they will replace it for free. I sort of wanted to know, but at the time, I didn't think to ask. :-\

are you sure about that?

I am not sure how they could tell when I sold SP's to customers.  I didn't scan the SP serial into Nintendo or anything.

BTW.. internal problem? Thats odd. You and stealth are the 1st 2 people in a long time that I have heard with problems. Odd stuff indeed.

Well, that's what they told me.

If she bought somewhere where they did scan it then yeah they can tell. Also the serial also shows when it was made I believe so that way they can tell if it is still under warranty.
