I am a huge Golden Axe fan, so when I read about the new one it made me excited!

Golden Axe: Beast Rider is the next-gen version and it's coming out on the 360 only (I think).

Basically, it's kind of a re-telling of the original game. Only this time, it takes you through the story from Tyris Flare's view (Tyris Flare is the chick). And the reason it's subtitled Beast Rider is because they have a bunch of cool beasts that you can ride (duh).

Anyway, I'm definitely keeping an eye on it. The screens so far look really nice.

Well we're both about the same age, but I bet you I'm a bigger hardcore fan of Golden Axe back in my childhood days at the Arcades ;) Yet I'm super excited about this.

Yeah, I never actually played it at the arcades. I grew up on the Genesis version. My cousin and I played through it co-op all the time.

If you haven't heard much about, check your local bookstores for Play magazine. It's November's cover story.

Any game where you can win just by hammering on the trhrow button, I consider a beatemup.
 
Like, what if it were really actiony and took a brain to play, like GOW, rather than gauntlet.

Plus, if it IS a mindless beat em up, the reviewers will nuke it.

Actually the reviewers will be happy, because they are dudes that are about my age and have very fond memories of classic Golden Axe.
 
Major prob is that you only get to play as Tyris Flare :(. Yeah she's hot and all but It'd be cool if Gilius is a playable character as well. I wanna play the enitre game hacking, slashing and running over baddies with a dragon using a 95 year old dwarf :D
 
Eh, it'll probably let you after you beat the game once or something.
 
I hope that's the case. Perhaps those pesky elves with the sacks will appear in the game too as it won't be the same without them. I miss kicking them all over the place :D Maybe in Beast Rider you could even make the dragon pulverize or even eat those elves, if you're fast enough.
