Goodbye random battles

i heard somewhere that 12 was going to simulate an ( online experience )???? dont know how but it sounds cool.. im really looking forward to this title.. i just might miss the random battles if they take it.. but i could get over it. i think square will pull it off some how

Random Battles are fine until you're lost or looking for something, it seems in those situations you get turned around, can't get your bearings straight, and just get so mad because every time you get back on screen almost figure out which way you're heading BAM another battle and by the end you've forgot what the heck you were doing. SKIES OF ARCADIA ON THE DREAMCAST DID ME IN ON RANDOM BATTLES!!!! Thank god they cleaned it up for the cube, battles were still random but not nearly as frequent...
 
I agree with the post above, random battles are okay, but sometimes when you want to build up, I like how in Chrono Trigger you would just run into the dudes and fight, thats the way to level up, or else in EarthBound, if they see you, they run for you, but if you have one of those Sandwiches to make you run fast, then you can run away from them. And when you run away from battles, they are haulted for 5 seconds before they run at you again.
 
Star Ocean 3 had no random battles, so you could go back and forth all the time without stopping every five seconds to fight a pointless enemy. Add real-time battles, and you got yourself a classic game. Except of course even the Director's Cut had so many bugs it's not playable. It's a shame.
 
this gotta be fun, those who play psx rpgs should remember lunar sliver star story had the same gameplay system, i had quite a hard time escaping from monsters chasing me. :p
