I have no idea how people figure some of this stuff out.

Seriously.

Even knowing what to do the people testing this cheat had to try it a bunch of times to get it to work. Unreal. Someone give that kid a job as a tester ffs.
 
He was just "messing around." Yeah right, who messes around by randomly plugging in the 3rd controller port and pushing buttons at the same time in the character select screen.

I think he had some idea as to what he was doing. Maybe he haxx0rzed his GC to figure out it needed to be in controller slot three or something. But stranger things have happened.

You may not believe this but accidentally inputted this code into TMNT: Tournament Fighters on the Snes when I was about 9.

Play as a Boss
Use this trick to play as any boss. Plug in a second controller, wait until the title screen appears. On Controller Two, press X, Up, Y, Left, B, Down, A, Right, X, Up. Now go to Vs. Mode and press Left on Controller One. You can now play as any boss.

Of course, because I was genuinely just messing around I had no idea what I pushed to activate this code, so we kept my friend's Snes on for about 2 weeks before finally shutting it off and losing the ability to play as bosses.

I can believe this kid actually accidentally stumbled upon this, but he must have had some idea of what he was doing, otherwise how did he record the steps involved to activate this cheat?

Well in the video it says he was trying to see if you could get to the level select screen without picking a character
