GTA: San Andreas for XBOX - 6/7/05

Well, one could look at this as a good thing (if your a fan of GTA). Myself, I could care less..I own an Xbox and a PS2..and honestly GTA is a broken game that needs some serious work, and since they failed to change hardly anything about the latest instalment, I have little doubt that they will fix anything for the Xbox port. It amazes me how such an ugly, buggy, and unresponsive game can become so popular based soley on its violent content and curse words. How long does it take before RockStar actually decides to use a new graphical engine for this old series anyways?

Actually, this is a newer version of the graphical engine, with 3x the viewing distance. San Andreas is much less buggy compared to Vice City, they have better particle effects and car models (over 200 drivable things, I believe my friend counted in his game guide) and have cut the loading time to 1/3 what Vice City has. The game overall is 5x (I think that's what they said in press releases) larger in size than Vice.

That and mindless two player.

Well they sure fooled me...it still looks like the same ugly mess as the last two GTA games, and I have seen and counted countless bugs. New cars, and a further viewing distance do not exactly make a "newer graphical engine". The character models, and character animations still look like horrid first gen Dreamcast.

Meh, for a non linear game of that size, the graphics are as good as they get. I personally find the graphics and framerate good for an aging system and I give rockstar credit for being able create such a massive, free roaming game. And as far as playing it only for violence, that is literally as far from the truth as it gets. I don't know about anyone else but I play GTA for the endless secrets/ easter egg's, the awesome missions, and the ability to go wherever and do whatever you want. All the mini missions alone are great as well. Come on, what other game let's you jack a freight train?!?

Yea I figured it would come to the Xbox, I'll prolly pick it up just for the custom track ability cause the music blows in SA.

Have you played MGS3? Because it has huge enviroments, and graphics that easily rival thye best you could see on an Xbox or anything else really. Graphics can be done very well on PS2, RockStar is just lazy, and has done nothing to change an aging series, it has nothing to do with the console its on, vice city looked like crap on Xbox too.

Nope, haven't played MGS3 yet, but it's under my tree right now :D Well yea, I agree about Vice city on the Xbox but none the less it was a port and if you compare Morrowind for Xbox to a good pc, yada, yada, yada, you catch my drift. And by no means am I arguing or disagreeing with you, I just think we have a different opinion on how well Rockstar did on the game, so technically I can't be right or wrong etc, etc. I guess I just feel that Rockstar did "overall" a good job. Sure, there is some rehashed npc's from VC and even some areas look similar, but when you look at the sheer number of things to do in SA and how well the missions are paced and executed, I think it's fair to say they did a great overall job. I look at it this way, my enjoyment and appreciation for the game far outweighs my negatives. Oh, and not to mention the storyline, best voice acting I've ever heard besides MGS2, can't say for 3, yet ;) So that's really my outlook on it, and like I said I don't disagree with you I just look at it from a different angle I guess you could say.
