I won a free copy of "Super Mario Brothers" for the NES from a scratch ticket that came in bags of chips around the time I was in Jr.High.I cheated however.I'm not sure if anyone remembers the little square shaped scratch tickets that came in bags of chips where you scratch 3 out of the 9 squares available on the card. You were only allowed to scratch 3 squares. If you scratched 3 identical symbols you won a prize.
The way we cheated was taking a piece of scotch tape and placing the strip of tape over 3 squares in a row, softly rubbing it down then slowly peeling it off. While the tape is being peeled off,a small bit of film from the grey colored scratch area on each of the 9 boxes would lift. You repeat this process until you could hold the game card up to the sunlight and you could then see the symbols hidden behind the scratch surface.
I did this trick and it revealed the location for all 3 of the star symbols required to win the video game which was for me,"Super Mario Brothers" for the NES.Needless to say,the company got wind of it quickly then destroyed the original cards and reissued new ones with a scratch surface that was tamper proof.I was one of the lucky ones to have sent my winning card in before the new ones came out,and I received the game in the mail.
:woot
Godspeed.
