I won a free copy of "Super Mario Brothers" for the NES from a scratch ticket that came in bags of chips around the time I was in Jr.High.I cheated however.I'm not sure if anyone remembers the little square shaped scratch tickets that came in bags of chips where you scratch 3 out of the 9 squares available on the card. You were only allowed to scratch 3 squares. If you scratched 3 identical symbols you won a prize.

The way we cheated was taking a piece of scotch tape and placing the strip of tape over 3 squares in a row, softly rubbing it down then slowly peeling it off. While the tape is being peeled off,a small bit of film from the grey colored scratch area on each of the 9 boxes would lift. You repeat this process until you could hold the game card up to the sunlight and you could then see the symbols hidden behind the scratch surface.

I did this trick and it revealed the location for all 3 of the star symbols required to win the video game which was for me,"Super Mario Brothers" for the NES.Needless to say,the company got wind of it quickly then destroyed the original cards and reissued new ones with a scratch surface that was tamper proof.I was one of the lucky ones to have sent my winning card in before the new ones came out,and I received the game in the mail. :D :woot

Godspeed.

When I bought FFX, I filled out a survey that came with it, which didn't say anything about winning prizes, but I received a "Thank You" gift which contained FFX-2.

I would've sent it back and said "keep this garbage" :lol

But that's pretty cool if you like it. :)

Hey nah, X-2 isn't the worst FF.

It was the worst I've played. :lol

It was definitely aimed at the female crowd. I couldn't pull myself into it after an hour of hearing sarcastic girl screams, that horrible pop concert intro, and the outfit system.

That is everything a man looks for in his games. :lol

I'm with Strubes,"FF X-2" blows, but it was free so it's not all bad.

Yes, in 2000 I won a Dorito's contest and they sent me Pokemon Silver for GameBoy Color :)

in 1992, I mailed in 500 Kool-Aid points and paid $3.95 for S&H for METROID II: Return of Samus on GameBoy (GREATEST SUMMER EVER!)

Would "FF Tactics" qualify as garbage?

Absolutely not. FF Tactics is a fine, fine game and highly regarded. For a while it fetched a pretty penny as well. If you don't like strategy RPG's you will not like it of course, but it's one of the better games out there.

Unfortunately, I bought FF Tactics for the PS1 on my PSP....I'm too spoiled by how more advanced the Disgaea series is and couldn't really get into it. :-\

I won a poster for Final Fantasy Tactics when it came out on Psp not that long ago.

I also won a couple of games from this website I do video game surveys for.
