Heavenly Sword discussion (including reviews)

So it was around 4 a.m. last night when I hopped on Sony's PS3 store online...and I saw to my delight the Heavenly Sword demo. I instantly started downloading it, and this morning, when I turned on my tv, it was complete. I have to tell you, this game is living up to the hype.
A few key notes, there's no "block" button...rather the main character blocks on her own. It's not that simple though. As the enemy attacks, they'll have an aura around them. If it's orange, then you have to be in the power stance (R1), and if it's blue, you have to be in the speed stance (L1)...and if it's red, then it's unblockable, so you have to try and evade. There's also no jump button which confused me, as I was thinking God of War when I initially started. Fortunately, the SIXAXIS controller is used very well. If you're in the speed stance and you hit someone, dazing them, you can thrust the SIXAXIS controller up and start an aerial combo.
Also (not in the demo), when you throw anything, you can take a first person perspective and actually guide the item to it's location. The demo was only about a half hour at best, but it was an incredible experience. Switching into power mode and watching enemies just catapult away with each blow was wickedly satisfying, and switching into speed mode and attacking multiple far off enemies was nice as well.
All in all, this demo definitely earns my seal of approval and I for one cannot wait for it to come out this September. :D

Re: Heavenly Sword - Hands On

I haven't seen anything on it yet. I'll check a demo of it... I don't have a PS3.. but I know a few people looking for a game for it (not bashing ps3 btw).

Re: Heavenly Sword - Hands On

I've always thought Heavenly Sword would end up being good. It's the first game I'll buy when I get a PS3 eventually. :) I might have to hang out with my friend who has a PS3 just to try the demo. :lol

Not a problem, and I did that review of the demo entirely on a non-bias basis. :)
It's a good game, that if you ever get your hands on a PS3 or get a chance to play one, that you should try.

Re: Heavenly Sword - Hands On

It's not overly gory...just on the last hit on each person there's a nice little line of blood...pretty realistic.

It'll prolly be M. I see trailers and pictures with big boss battles. The bigger the boss, the more blood I'm betting.

Play rated it a 10.

+ The perfect action game in every way and quite possibly the most cinematic game ever created.

- Some might call it short.

Re: First 10 for Heavenly Sword

Cool. Now let's get a 10 from a magazine who didn't make Sonic the Hedgehog for the 360 an 8.5 out of 10. ::) I wouldn't worry though. I'm sure they'll get a 10 from a reviewer who actually knows what they're talking about.

Re: First 10 for Heavenly Sword

Ahh, I see the Sony haters running in soon.

That's pretty good. I knew the game looked phenominal anyway. I just can't wait to play it. :)

Re: First 10 for Heavenly Sword

One day, when I can get a PS3, and it has the same amount of games the PS2 had, I will pick up this game. :D

Seriously, that ain't a Sony rant. I fully expect a turn around for the PS3...

Re: First 10 for Heavenly Sword

Short. Short. Short. That's drilled into everyone's head now. Short. Now some people won't want to buy it, since people don't like to buy as many short games.

Re: First 10 for Heavenly Sword

That's true, but for me, I only bought 1 since it was $17 and I rented 2. Both gave me ten hours and no desire to play them through again. Worth playing, not worth paying full. $50 for 2 would have been a huge mistake.

Yeah, but you also don't have a job (no offense). I bought 1 and 2 on release days, because that's how good they are to me.

Re: First 10 for Heavenly Sword

That's very true. But many people still complain about short games. Job or not. They equate worth to time. So, at my playing, I would have gotten GoW II at $5 an hour. I'm pretty sure that's slightly less than minimum wage here. So it doesn't seem worth it. But I online rent, so $20 a month(that I'm not even paying), two games out at a time, is just a much better way all around. Except for wanting to play something again and having to wait for the mail. Besides that, though, I can get some ten games in a month, all short, and have 'my money's worth'. When you're on a budget, worth = time.

Re: First 10 for Heavenly Sword

That's when you're on a budget. I buy games on release all the time. I like God of War 1 and 2 because they're benchmark games. Games that you just have to own. I like knowing that I can play a game I bought at any time, rather than waiting for it in the mail. Also, God of War 1 and 2 has tons of replayability. Back on topic though, I hope Heavenly Sword has stuff you can unlock after beating it. If not, It'll sit nice on my shelf until I get the urge to play it again. :D

Re: First 10 for Heavenly Sword

this games reminds me a lot of god of war, one of my favorite games ever, when i buy a ps3 i'll get this one
