Here's something interesting...

SpartanEvolved

SpartanEvolved
In the newest issue of OXM, there is an interesting response to a letter.

The letter basically asked when the 360 changes formats, if the buyers of the original get screwed over or if an add-on or retrofitting would be available. Their response is that games that require a HD-DVD drive will also come on multiple DVDs in addition to a single HD-DVD. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO angry about this! By not choosing a format until after the system's launch, all the original supporters and buyers are going to get SECOND-RATE MATERIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unless, of course, they buy ANOTHER 360, but then you will be out at least $600!

I dont understand what you are angry about Spartan? I dont understand the letter either. OK, so let me get this straight, original xbox owners are wondering if games for their system will still come on regular DVD's? Im tired and slow today so someone please explain. :)

Sounds to me that he's saying that there are compatibility issues between the Xbox and the Xbox 360. In my opinion, if there is, then keep the original Xbox around if you wish to play the older games. I personally see no problems with it.

But thats what happens with every new generation of systems. New games arent going to played on the old xbox, unless they are specifically for it. Not to mention that the xbox 360 isnt even fully backwards compatible yet, so why would you want to get rid of your xbox anyways?

That's exactly my point. Even with the ones that are backwards compatible. I play exactly zero PS1 games on my PS2. I play all my PS1 games on my PS1. Mainly because the games are compatible, but the saved data on the PS1 memory cards won't work on the PS2. So I say big deal if the 360 doesn't play the old Xbox games.

Well for me it's much easier to switch memory cards out of a PS2 than switching whole consoles since the memory cards do work on a PS2. But that's just me. :)

The PS1 memory cards don't work on the PS2? Since when?

I have never been successful in playing PS1 games with the PS1 memory cards on the PS2. Every time I tried I got something on the screen that says to insert the PS2 memory card. And that was with two PS2 consoles. The 1st gen and the 2nd gen designs. They will only work if they are formatted with the PS2. That means you have to erase the information that's already saved from your PS1 console. And this is strictly from personal experience.

What? That should never happen. All my memory cards work perfectly and should not have to be formatted.

Are you sure?? Then I must have a bad card then. But it works flawlessly in my PS1. So I guess it's not too bad. Yeah I tried to use my memory card one day on my brother-in-law's console when he first got his PS2 to play GT2. It didn't work. And when I got my slimline I tried again to play LoD on my PS2. No dice. I can't figure why unless it's a bad card then.

It could be. I really dont know what it could be. See if you can borrow or if you want buy another PS1 card to test it out.

Oh I have some other cards. But the two games I play the most are on that one card. So I'd have to restart both of them in order to play them on the PS2. And my PS1 works perfectly still.

Why would you have to restart?

Because the information saved on the memory card doesn't work on the PS2. But I just thought of something. I could load up the game, and save again on a different card...

Let me restate this....

The Xbox 360's that are gonig to be released at launch will NOT have HD-DVD drives.
Xbox 360's released later on down the road will have HD-DVD drives.

There are no plans to make older 360's compatible with HD-DVD's.
They are saying games that use HD-DVD's will also be released on multiple DVD's.
That, I think, is really stupid on Microsoft's part because they are giving the people who originally buy the Xbox 360 the shaft by not having HD-DVD drives now, and no plans to retrofit them.
