How can I get my PS3, 360, and Wii connected at the same time?

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
My Wii, 360, and PS3 share 1 cord, which is coming from a router box from the main PC.

What I was planning on doing, is getting another router box, attach the 1 cord to it, and that way the 3 systems can be online at all times without having to switch off.

However, some have told me that the bandwidth maybe effected by this.

What is the right thing to do?
 
LOL, who told you that? :lol

If you were using a hub then you'd probably get collisions but if you're going to use a switch then it will route packets and avoid that hassle. Neither will reduce your bandwidth unless you somehow found someone still selling an old 10 base-t hub. Hell, it's hard to even find people selling hubs at all. You were on the right track. I just bought a good one for just that. It was $27 from Newegg with a $15 mail in rebate.

Actually despite what Polygon said, it will hurt your bandwidth if all three are accessing at the same time. As long one console uses it at one time it should be OK. If you're downloading from multiple consoles your bandwidth will drop.

How many ethernet ports does your router have? And are they all being used up? If you just have your computer you should have free ports and use that. Otherwise, I believe you can do what you want to do but I'm not 100% positive.

True, but this is really caused by his internet connection, not by using a router/switch.

Exactly, which is why people have told him that his bandwidth would be affected in the first place. I don't believe anybody was talking about the router causing that problem.

Just would like to add, as long as multiple consoles including the PC are not downloading anything big you probably won't notice much of a drop if any.
 
just buy a wireless router and use that for your wii and ps3. bandwidth will not be affected unless running all three at the same time

You can do that as well. You can buy a wireless/wired router and have your 360 hooked up through ethernet and have the rest using wireless. That way you only have one router and still have everything hooked up.

You can also waste $100 so your 360 can be wireless.

It was the way he stated it, as if by simply having all connected at the same time would cause a drop in bandwidth which isn't true unless more than one are downloading from the WAN at the same time.
 
I purchased yet another RCA hub(?) for my consoles today at Game Stop so I can hook all of my RCA equipped consoles to my livingroom TV without plugging and unplugging each console. Anyway, I noticed that this one, unlike my other one, has ethernet hookups. Yes, you can hook all of them up to this box and switch the connections on and off that way. No, I don't believe with this you can have all three on at the same time. And at $20, who can complain?
 
Hmm, that's nice. I wish I'd known that before I bought my switch. :-\

I'm going to get one of Game Stop's all in one cables instead.

It saves the time of hooking them up every time you want to get online, genius. Good job with the crappy spelling, too.

Yeah that's what I have right now. It's an HD Pelician brand selector. It hooks up 3 systems to be online. It's pretty nice, but it's so freakin' huge. Yet I have to make sure to remember which connector is set on the proper on switch to be sure that system is online. The beauty of it, it doesn't hurt the band width at all.

Actually, I have my Wii and 360 both hooked up to the internet, and on quite frequently. I will have Myspace up on my Wii and Xbox LIVE running on the 360, and will switch back and forth every couple minutes to talk to people.

I am a loser, you say?

I'd love to hear your stupid reason as to why. It's called convenience, efficiency. Maybe you like doing things half-assed, fine. Don't be a moron and post garbage like this. I guess people that network their computers are losers? ::)
 
Was the rule changed? Or do two wrongs actually make a right? It's obvious that this guy wasted his time in joining up to make one single post. I highly doubt he'll be back. So why waste energy on him? Just let it be.
