I just don't get it... (trying to buy a laptop video card)

Hey guys,

So yeah, I'm getting a laptop in a couple of days. It's decent in every way, save for the graphics card... so, I've been looking for an alternative. The card isn't even meant for gaming... and I want to game, lol. I'm mainly wanting to play games like City of Heroes on it, if anyone remembers that game. The problem I have is that I can't find a place that sells them. I've Googled from one side of the earth to another, to no avail.

The cards I've been told I should get are:
ATI Mobility x2600
ATI Mobility 3850 HD
Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX
Nvidia GeForce 8600M GTX

Any of those cards would make me happy. The problem is... I can't find any sites that sell them! Not even one! Is it hard to find decent video cards that aren't already built into a system...? If anyone could recommend some sites for buying laptop video cards at, that would be awesome.

As you've noticed, graphics cards are becoming scarce for laptops because the majority of people who game now use full desktops. There just isn't as much money to make off of laptops due to their limited upgradeability.

Unfortunately I don't have any sites you can try other than newegg or tigerdirect. I would recommend just getting a very powerful laptop and go from there if you want to game on it.

You might just have to buy a new laptop with a better graphics card online from the retailers?

Well, the thing is I'm getting the laptop for free from a friend. Like I said, it's decent enough in every way to run games, save for the video card... I need to actually get it in my hands first and see if the video card is removable.

Being a laptop, chances are you can't change the video card. at least 90% of laptops have the video card integrated into the mother board. The few that you can change the card in aren't easy to change as there aren't many for sale.
