Hello Members!

To start off, even though I'm Canadian I'm glad that Obama won.I'm not too sure, but it looks as if Bush left the poor dude with a huge mess to clean up!I like Obama,he has style and conviction.I just hope he follows through with the changes he has promised to make.It seems to me that politicians make lots of promises, and when they're elected, they don't make good on them, hopefully Mr.Obama honor his promises.

In your opinion,do you think that if Obama hadn't been elected president, that there would have been a historical uproar among the African Americans?

God Bless,

I say it would depend on certain factors. ie. by how much did he lose by? If it was close and McCain would have won, then I would say that there would be an uproar. Although, it wouldn't be a huge one, simply because historically all of our leaders have been white, Obama losing would kind of given the sense that "it was to be expected."

So would there be an uproar? Yes. Would this uproar be huge chaos and anarchy? No.

Really, to be truthful, McCain was dead in the water until he put Palin as his VP. If he had not put her in there, the whole map would have been blue. No matter what your feelings are about her, she gave his campaign life and was the one drawing the crowds, not MaCain. No one wanted McCain. After the core ultra conservatives in the Republican Party beat to death every possible candidate he was the only one standing after the smoke cleared. And they didn't want him and continued tearing him down until the election.

I don't think Obama's biggest problem will be the mess. I think it will be Nancy Pelosi, she enjoys the power she has had for a while. He will have to work with her to get anything done. Plus there's Mitch McConnell leading the Republicans in the Senate that will be a thorn. And no, he will not deliver on his campaign promises. What politician ever did? Personally I think a lot of his thinking and ideas just won't work in a recession. He will have to deal with the economy, little by little, with one step at a time. It is like trying to walk on egg shells without breaking anything.

And I don't think the biggest problem is the economy. I really feel it is the National Debt of 10 Trillion dollars that is going to bite us really bad at some point. And I heard today that Pelosi is talking about over 900 Billion dollars on top of the 700 Billion dollars for the next bunch of months. The American people didn't like the last 700 Billion. The National debt has grown enormously over the last eight years.

And I agree with CreepinDeth on the closeness issue. If it demanded a recount in some state and it was given to McCain. Yeah there would have been a lot of people very angry and mad. The News media would have been leading the way.
