If You Had A Say....

If you had a say in how they program RPG's these days, what would you like to change or add?

God bless

*I personally hate Turn-Based Battles..I would like battles like in the Lord of the Ring games.

*Complete Character Customization would also be nice..as would Item Customization.

Most of the console rpg cliches need to go, actually. :lol

This is another one that I think needs to be fixed.

Magical Inequality Theorem
In the course of your travels you may find useful-sounding spells such as Petrify, Silence, and Instant Death. However, you will end up never using these spells in combat because a) all ordinary enemies can be killed with a few normal attacks, making fancy attacks unneccessary, b) all bosses and other stronger-than-average monsters are immune to those effects so there's no point in using them for long fights where they'd actually come in handy, and c) the spells usually don't work anyway.

I like turn based games like the old FF games. :-\

Yeah...the choices you make in a game that effect the ending is sweet.

Being able to react to NPCs anyway you want to. (Talk, flirt, kill....etc.)

Yeah, give up the turn based battle system. In some cases it's done really well, but in most cases it's a way of avoiding programming real gameplay.

Also, if the developers of the RPG tell me I can level up my character however I want to fit my play style, then they better not be lieing. It really, really sucks to invest 10 or 20 hours into an RPG just to find out you are expected to level up certain attributes of your character (or certain characters) just to defeat a certain enemy, boss, etc.

Level grinding sucks. I think that's why I have trouble with FF games. I'm stuck on FFIII right now because I need to level up more, and it's boring, so I'm not doing it. :lol

That's more because it's a really freaking old game. You'll want to be in the 70's by the time you face the final boss.

Also:
Weapon Rule
There's always a hidden creature who is much harder to defeat than even the ultimate bad guy's final, world-annihilating form. It's lucky for all concerned that this hidden creature prefers to stay hidden rather than trying to take over the world himself, because he'd probably win. As a corollary, whatever reward you get for killing the hidden creature is basically worthless because by the time you're powerful enough to defeat him, you don't need it any more.

Man, that kind of sucks. Is there specific jobs I should have, too? I kind of like my party how it is and that would be very irritating. :-\

Have one White Mage, obviously. A Black Mage and Dragoon help, as well.

Oh, ok. I'm good then. I have a Black Mage, White Mage, Dark Knight, and Dragoon. And I think my characters were about level 38, so that's not super bad.

But still. Level 70. Geez. :lol

That was pretty much my party, too. I was early 60's when I first tried. :/ Yeah.
