I'm about to buy a 360 and I have a couple of questions

First off I would like to avoid getting a unit that will take a dirt nap and give me the ring of death. What units should I avoid or have they fixed the issue entirely? Second I have GH for the PS2 but I want the songs that you can get on the 360 so I am selling all my PS2 GH stuff. Anyhow, which guitar controllers are good? Should I stick with the wired ones or are the wireless ones fine? Just a note, I am planning to use them for Rock Band as well if that makes any difference.

Wireless works just fine. As for the who RROD, it's been resolved completely. No one unit has any greater or lesser chance of getting RROD.

And yeah, Guitar Hero wireless will work just fine on Rock Band.

RROD are still at 16% for the 360 consoles, so there's really no way around it. They do have warranties and such though. And I believe Jack fully answered the rest of your questions.

Yeah I don't have a 360 but I have used all three types of guitar controllers, the wired one is my least favorite, then the rock band one, and my favorite is the wireless one.

Sweet, I just bought 2, 3, and Aerosmith. Now I just need to get the first one and a wired controller for the PS2 and Rockband. I still need to pick a 360 too, but I'll wait for that price drop. Thanks guys.

RROD is <5% for the modern Pro's(ask for one with an HDMI port to get one of these), but what Strubes said is still partially true, they're just including every Xbox 360, which includes launch models and the like. Stick with a wired guitar to save money on batteries, otherwise go wireless, saves a lot of hassle.

The failure rate of the new 360's aren't as low as they should be...but at least it's under 16%. The Wii has a 3% and the PS3 now has a 0.78% or something obnoxiously low like that.

I personally prefer the wired GH II controller to the wireless one in 3, and I think both work with Rock Band.

It's cumulatively 16%, as in it includes the failure rate of the models with the older chipset. In the models with the newer chipset, the failure rate is considerably lower than that.

What is it your prefer about the wired controller over the wireless. Is there a latency issue with the wireless? Just as long as they work as well as the Aerosmith guitar controllers for the Wii then I'm fine as I got two of those for the 360.

Also, is the price drop just for the Premium models?

Not at all. I just prefer the design and look of my wired controller (which is an X-Plorer) to the wireless (which is a Les Paul).

Hmm, alright.

Well, I'm shopping around for a system and I think I found the best deal at Wal Mart. It's the arcade system which has a 256MB memory card, two games, and two wireless controllers for $364. I'm only concerned about saving games. I can get a hard drive later.

What do you guys think?

Well I guess that depends on the game. You can get a premium 360 online for around $330 now, $30 for a wireless controller, and whatever the games would be. Having a hard drive is exponentially better than a memory card.

Yeah, even just saving games fills the card. The card flat out sucks, don't touch it.

I wouldn't bother with getting that bundle, tbh. The memory cards are pretty worthless, and you'll end up spending more money later on to replace it with a hard drive. I would just buy a system with a hard drive right off the bat. Preferably a system with a 120 gig HD.

It's not just game saves you will eventually need to worry about. There's also downloadable content, XBL arcade games, demos, and game trailers.

Yeah, that's what I thought, but I wasn't sure since I sometimes have to put my profile in a memory card to play on someone else's 360, and I can be on XBL from the memory card. I just can't save anything else to it.

Bummer, it just seemed like a good deal having two controllers, Forza 2 and Project Gotham 3 which I really want. I just get bugged about the cost of even the 20GB system. It's $350, one controller, and no games.

So, it turns out that I can get that bundle except it comes with the 20gb unit and it's $70 more so it would be about $435. Is that a good deal?
