I'm starting to think these things are junk

The 360 is ticking me off! Myself and two of my roommates have one, and out of the three of us two of us have had to send them back at least once. One had to go back twice. Every one of them seems to like to scratch discs, and certain games you have to jump through hoops to get to load right. The new baseball game out for the system requires you to load three different games before you can play it and not have to worry about it freezing. Not to mention Oblivion, it froze up constantly. If the hardware problems aren't bad enough, it seems like there's only one good game coming out every 6 weeks. The graphics are so amazing on this machine it makes a ps2 or a gamecube seem like kids toys. I picked up Shadow of the Colossus last night and tried to play it and couldn't handle dealing with that pixelated mess that we've all come to know and love as the ps2.

I guess what I'm saying / asking here is are you guys having similar difficulties? Shoddy machines, Not enough games to keep one busy, the games that are out are buggy, and just spoiled on the superior graphics?
 
I've heard of problems, but both of my friends seem to be perfectly fine. One's Oblivion file became fragmented once, but was fixed with a simple command upon loading the game.
 
My boss's 360 just broke this week. He's had it for less than a month. I didn't have a chance to ask what was messed up but he had to take his back also.
 
Major League Baseball 2K6 was glitchy across the whole board. Every single copy is defective. It was something that happened during production.

Oblivion, though..you might just have a defective copy personally.

I heard there are some bugs in Oblivion, but that's bound to happen with a game as big as that.
 
My first XBOX 360 actually had a system failure. I had to get another one. But according to my sources, all consumer electronics have a 3% failure rate, and the 360 was in fact under 3% defective. It just seemed like it was higher because there was so much publicity.

As far as games, going back to Oblivion...my roommate has gotten stuck in a rock once, but that's about it. I haven't had any problems with any of my other games.

Sometimes the system freezes up playing DVDs though. But it always unfreezes after a few seconds. I just take that as it's not really meant for DVDs, and it's my own fault for watching them on it anyway.

I kind of hoped that these new consoles would take out the DVD functionality since so many people probably already have a better DVD player and are probably going to get the HD-DVD attachment anyways. My theory is that consoles would last a little longer and be a little more durable.
 
Where in the world did you come up with xbox having less than a 3% failure rate? We're shooting 100% at my house. We're talking consoles purchased between release day and january 2nd. All have been sent back once, one has been sent back twice. 1 xbox scratched my nhl 2k6, at least according to microsoft, because I transported the xbox with the disc in it. That's retarted. Every oblivion game I've heard about has had some sort of problem. I can't believe more of you haven't had a problem. I wonder if it has anything to do with getting the consoles when they first came out?

I am quite curious about that as well....
How was it less than 3%? There were tons of problems with the launch systems. I would have thought more than 3% were defective.

@ targetrasp.... I believe it had something to do with the launch systems.... although some are still failing..... not as many though.

My 360 survived a 5 foot fall from a dresser. Works fine, doesn't scratch disk or anything. So, you must have bad luck or are too impatient.

no... but I do sell the stuff :lol

I don't hate Xbox... it's not my favorite... and anything that was released on that and the PC, I would buy it for the PC .

But I can say that I play it at my friends house. I've had a pretty good amount of hands on experience with the system.
