Retro, you were just as guilty as Mega in the argument. Just when kirbyrockz stepped in and told everyone to calm down, you lashed back. I would think that being a mod, you would know when it's time to call it quits. So he swore...I wouldn't say that it was unprovoked. Even though swearing is against board rules and nobody can push you to swear, you certainly did your best. Declaring that you're the winner of an argument is also childish to say the least. I would just hope that you would take more time and consideration in what you are doing.

Maybe I shouldn't have replied after Kirby made the warning, but the fact is that Mega had the audacity to flame me after I made a simply joke, a simple misunderstanding. It's not like I even flamed him back either, I just replied in a reasonable way and straight up told him he was over-reacting. I do have a very sarcastic nature about me, it's just how I am. If you asked any of my friends, I always debate like that, being a wiseguy and the like, I just like to use humour to loosen up a debate. The fact that he totally flipped out on me, broke BV's rules and edited his posts in other topics to swear some more, shows he's an immature punk that doesn't respect the rules of this forum. He's been banned for a week but I don't see him calming down.

Let's start at the bottom line first. Is it really worth injecting so much passion into a fictional character to the point that it defines your own character in the eyes of others? I'd say not. I am sorry, but I simply do not see the need to get into an argument over a passing event.
To Mega, it's better to be silent and be assumed as wise than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. I will try to see your case in that obviously you are a fan. But since the object of your affection is a fictional character, you must expect that not everyone sees this as you do. And with that expectation, you should realize your limits. There will be people poking fun. But you have to show some sort of restraint.
To Retro, The standard of these boards centers around it's moderators. It's obvious that this forum is about having fun and chatting about a common interest (or interests), but with your status, you have to show even more restraint, because if egameaddiction gets the same reputation as other gaming forums in regards to their mods, then we as a community cease to have our unique status.
So in short, both of you are grown adults. My suggestion is to act as such. There's my two cents.

Wow...just wow....All the guy did was leave a harmless, playful reply to a thread, and this is what happens? I mean, usually a smiley face means the person is not serious, or at least last time I checked it was. I read Retro's initial reply right after he left it, and I totally understood that he was just goofing around, yet it seems that that flew over everybody's head somehow. I won't go into what happened after the fact, but to think that this is all going down because of one little stinking comment is just absurd. Have a great day board

I haven't read all the posts in great detail but I've got to say that I'm with Retro on this one. Mega completely overracted and I agree with Retro that he was way, way over patriotic. If say, I dunno, Peggy from Eastenders died (I doubt even think some of the Brits will get this comparison) and someone said "I want to poo on the British flag, you rubbish country, haha I'm glad she's dead" I wouldn't care in the least. Even if the Queen died and somebody drew a crude pornographic picture of her, I wouldn't care! Besides, Superman would kick Capt. America's ass!!

One of the inevitable drawbacks of the American Personality. It seems that it has been ingrained in us to not care if a fellow American says something bad, but if someone who is not from this country says the most minor of things, then he is tried, convicted and executed in the court of public opinion.
My response was not a direct attack on you, Retro. My only concern was that a moderator was engaged in a dispute that got ugly in no time. And I do realize that it's a fine line. Sometimes the best thing to say in response to an accusation is to say nothing at all. But who knows? Besides, lamenting on the fact that Captain America's alter ego has been killed off is hardly news that would reach the front page. :lol
People are passionate about different things. I love america too much. If someone made fun of it and were in an area I could reach, I would do something...cause this land didn't come free. Painters love paint and crap. Poets love poetry. Mega loves Captain America and any American icon it seems. It just shouldn't have gone where it did, but both sides were pushing for it. I don't understand how anyone can "take sides". Personally, you both were wrong anyways.

Dang man. When I read it, the damage was done, his post was edited and that was that. It seems that the action that was taken was warranted then.
