Is it really worth it?

back when i watched the "countdown to 360" on G4((tech tv)) sometime in november, the developers/designers revealed alot of facts and sneak previews on the 360. The major one i heard so far is one of the developers stating that the 360 was made for HDTV. Now there are many people throughout this nation that dont have high def. and it sucks. The developer said that if you dont have HDTV, then you wont be able to see a significant difference in graphics than the original xbox. Aside from that, the new system has loads of bugs from being pushed out too early...now the real question is...is the xbox worth the money/hype. or is it just overrated. :o
 
I, personally think it's overrated. It came out before it's time, and it's going to pay for it.  I don't know ANYONE with an HDTV set and it's not real fair to the consumers to buy something that's supposed to "redefine" gaming when all it's really doing is saying "hey...the xbox 360 isn't $400, it's $5,400 including the HDTV set." It's rediculous.

I also don't know anyone with an HDTV. And yes, it is very overrated. If you have a normal TV you do notice a SLIGHT difference, but it's not something to drool about.
 
I haven't really seen anything on it that makes me want to buy it. However, there are some games that will be coming out in the near future that are going to make an Xbox 360 very tempting: Gears of War looks fantastic and whatever Halo 3 will be you know you'll want it.

I don't think the Xbox 360 is overrated (overhyped for sure) and I think there are gonna be some killer games on it that look ridiculously amazing whether or not you have an HDTV.

But personally I'd hold off for a PS3 instead. Or at least wait to see what the PS3 looks like compared to the 360 once it's released.
 
I was starting to doubt that the 360 was worth it. And then something happened: I got addicted to Dead or Alive 4. That game is so addicting it's insane. I even went out and bought the arcade stick for it.

I can't think of many games I would want for one, but I personally think the console itself it amazing. Everything is so integrated, the controllers and headsets are far superior to the original Xbox, and somehow everything just fits for a great gaming experience.

Are any of the launch titles worth it? No.

Are there any titles that interest me? Halo 3, Saint's Row (GTA4 will more than likely be better) and Oblivion (which I plan to get on PC).
 
Well, one or two good games still doesn't make it worth it to me. I think it's not worth the price of admission unless you have an HD tv. I'd just as soon get a nice gaming pc seeing like the one game I really want{Oblivion} for the 360 will be so much better on pc anyways. That's just where I stand now, which of course could change with a few top releases. But overall I say no, not worth it yet.
 
Right now I think the 360 isn't worth it - yet. Price is a bit high and the game selection is a bit too small right now.

I think I'll sit on the fence and wait and see how the 360 turns out as far as title selection goes...
 
I think microsoft really wanted to be first, but I think they are kicking themselves for putting it out just a bit too early

it is some-what overrated, but it is worth it some of the games!!!! :drool :drool :drool :drool :drool :drool
 
Yes it is definitly worth it now. In March, everyone will see what the 360 will do. There are so many games coming out in march. it's gonna be so awsome for all of the proud 360 owners (including myself). At launch there were no really great games out (except PGR3 and Call of Duty single player is great) untill Doa4 came out. That game makes the system worth it. But anyways, I wouldn't wait for the PS3 at this point because all/most of the upcoming games look amazingly fun and beautiful. :D 8) ;D
 
First off, welcome to the boards. :)

Now, why wouldn't we wait till the PS3 release? I know the graphics look good for the upcoming 360 release, but why not wait to see how the PS3 compares?
 
Well Im waiting for a PS3 because it has franchises that I love. But that's a whole other discussion. I still dont think the 360 is worth it yet. DOA4 is not a game I really like. For me it wont become worth the price until I get a HDTV and the 360 gets more quality games.
 
I'm might wait till another next gen comes out and compare the two
maybe by that time the xbox 360 will be cheaper, have some of the bugs fixed, and be closer to coming out with halo 3
 
I would say don't wait for PS3 because you can have the next ganereation now. But that is just my opinion. Personally, I don't really like a lot of the major games on PS (like MGS). That is why the 360 is better for me.
