Is the original XBOX still worth getting?

Well every now and then, Microsoft keeps adding patches that you can download via Xbox live to play more and more old xbox games. But, I'd say get the original if you love first person shooters. If not, I say spend bout $150 more on the Wii when it comes out.
 
Personally, I would say that the money would be better saved for a PS3, Wii, or 360. Granted, an Xbox isn't that expensive anymore, but waiting and saving money would be a smarter choice in the long run.

Dart is correct, I wish I had a normal Xbox to play some of the games, I was very disappointed with the fact that Mega Man Anniversary Collection doesnt work properly on the 360 :(
 
yeah but they never fully test them out on the 360. MM Anniversary Collection will work on the 360, but good lord it has so many glitches and then some! Heck if you look on Xbox's offical page about this, they'll give you a list of "Known problems" with the backwards compatibility and that's just sad
 
Finally got an XBOX. Was offered a deal by a friend this weekend that I could not turn down, which included the system and 20 games, including both the Hitman, Call of Duty, and Splinter cell series and Halo 2 for $100. Gonna try out some of the games tonight. Still have a few more I want to get, but I'm happy.

Not yet, Mastermario....Probably next year sometime..I'm still intent on getting the 360, but of course after the price drops more. :) Will prob just get the live then
 
I've had 3 xboxs in my life. I bought one when it first came out and it was the thompson so i traded it in for a newer one. Then i started playing grand theft auto before it came out on xbox, and i traded my box in for a ps2. After that Halo 2 came out and i wanted it so i bought a new xbox and halo 2. But then money started getting a little low so i sold everything about 3 months ago. Now i'm probably gonna get one again during christmas time. I DO want a 360 but im not gonna pay 400 for something like that. So yes the original xbox's are way worth getting. But your best bet is to get a refurbished one from game stop. Ebay can be a little hard to trust on systems. But I would recomend going on Ebay and searching for "Xbox game lot" to see if you can find a bundle of good games for a good price.

halo 1- $10
playing them with freinds-priceless :D

The Xbox is defiantly worth getting just for halo 1 & 2 play legendary both of them, it's so much fun! :p
 
yeah its still worth geting i modded mine to play 360 games but i vant get on xbox live sooo its kind of a hard dessicion

Gil, I would get the 360, I know it's alot but you always can sell your systems too. :)

I've been looking into hard modding myself and I've never seen a chip that lets you play 360 games. How does it affect it becuase wouldn't graphics and stuff be all messed up...what chip did you use, anyway?
 
yea the xbox is worth getting for the splintercell/halo series alone.

i got mine refurbished at EBGames for $130 last christmas
