Nintendo is telling launch title developers to have their games ready by mid-October or so for a launch on November 2; others believe the date may be November 12. Sources indicate that the machine will retail for $229 in the United States, though the contents of the package were not disclosed. It will be available in black and white, according to these sources.

AND talk of a new portable...

One rumor, which IGN removed entirely for the reposted story, stated IBM may be working on a smaller version of the Wii's Broadway CPU for use in a portable console which would play GameCube discs. This has been rumored to be the approach taken with Nintendo's next Game Boy console, though past instances of this rumor did not come by way of apparently credible sources.

I saw this article and swam through countless posts of crap on NEOGAF before deciding I don't have much to say on it.

I'm find with a 229 price, as I was preparing for a 250 price. Though I think Nintendo would greatly benefit by packing at LEAST a second controller with the console, if not Wii Sports even if it costs them a kick in the shin. It would be a good move.

Otherwise, shrug. I'd like my Wii in October, and I think it would also benefit Nintendo. But whether or not this happens is up to question. Really, we have to wait for the Germany GC to find out, as when that comes, we'll know all.

However, one thing about this article I disapprove of, is Cassamassina saying "You can look forward to your Wii sooner than later" - this makes no sense at November 2/12 if this was the previous window of launch anyway. That kind if implies an earlier launch than that.

Nintendo is like Moses..it saves people from slavery in the land of Sony and Microsoft!! :D

A Gamecube "player" has been rumored for about 2 some years now... because the discs are so small that it wouldn't be hard to do that.

I am not sure if I believe that though. IT WOULD be cool, never-the-less! NOW... if they worked on the next GB console in this manner, that would be cool (as to where it could play GC games as well). AS LONG AS it didn't end up like the PSP... being just a portible PS2, with the same games... same price, but on a second format... if that makes sense to you all.

Good news though. I'd like to see the Wii more around $200... but $229 isn't too bad.
