Neo Geo CD just got a neo geo cd

this is my first post here, but I finally decided to buy a top loading neo geo cd system after wanting one for a few years now :) besides all the great fighting games on the system, what would you recommend picking up? the cd system I bought came with samurai spirits 1-3 and rpg, kof 94-96, real bout 1, fatal fury 3, I think thats a pretty good start so far. but id also like to get some of the games that are sidescrolling beat em ups or platformers or shooters.
 
Sidescrolling beat-um-ups: Robo Army, Mutation Nation, Sengoku
Shooters: Pulstar, Sonic Wings 2, Sonic Wings 3, ASO II, Last Resort
Platformers: Top Hunter, Metal Slug(sort of a platformer/shooter), Blues Journey
Sports:Super Sidekicks II, Power Spikes, Battle Flip Shot
Other: Crossed Swords II, Super Spy, Samurai Spirits RPG (Japanese only)

Viewpoint is a pretty good shooter :)
Last Resort is as well.

I wanna get windjammers, do you have that in the store? Actually I need to get a seccond controller too. When I get some more cash.... ;-) I saw somone selling about 30 controllers with the down position problem but shipping was 100 from japan. I just know I could fix them!

IF you can fix them that is great... they are pretty hard to fix though from what I hear... if the  sensor (or whatever it is) is shot.  It's worth a try though.  I have a few that if you want them... we could work out a deal.  they are basically near mint with the down direction not working.

BTW, a similar thing happens to my car door windows. I have a Volvo 240DL and I have to take apart the switches to clean the contacts about once a year.

I enjoyed windjammers when I played it for a brief time a few years ago, id like to get it when I have extra money :)
also looking to get the japanese releases of: robo army, sengoku 2, metal slug 1, real bout 2.

its going to be a while before I find any of those though :( after waiting about 2 weeks the top loading ng cd plus games came in the mail and im enjoying it so far, I dont mind the load times at all and its a great alternative since I cant afford aes or mvs. im not really getting why some people cant stand the load times, its roughly the same as the load times for most cd systems from that era.

its great to see a forum dedicated to neo geo cd, ive always been a fan of the system even though I just recently got one :)
 
You MUST get Windjammers!

Sengoku 2 is awesome, better than Robo Army IMO. The Sonic Wings games are great fun if you don't want to fork out for Pulstar. I also quite like Cyber Lip... Am I alone?
Keep your eye on eBay, most of my games cost me less than £5!!!

And rossdh, Battle Flip Shot wasn't released on CD was it...?

You are right, sorry.

BTW, Metal slug 1 is the CD to get from the Metal Slug series. Only bad thing is it costs near $100! MS2 is not so hot on NGCD due to in-stage loading and longer loading over all. Also it has LOTS of slowdown. I played it on NGCD and the only good thing is the extras. Metal Slug 1 has good load times and no in-stage loading. What I think is a shame is the Music is not redone and sounds kind of scratchy.

As for load times, the games with terrible loading are the newer fighting games. I don't think it's fun to play KOF99 and wait 1 min every character switch, etc.
 
I think im going to order wind jammers soon, its been a while since I played it :) I dont think ive ever seen metal slug 1 go for less then $78 anywhere online, I dont mind paying that for it but it does seem a bit steep. although I think it might be worth it since its the only slug I havent played besides number 3 and 6. strangly enough, I have a easier time playing some of the games with the neo pad instead of the neo geo stick, am I alone on this? shiny, I ordered cyber lip a few days ago. it looked pretty good from the screenshots ive seen.

I've been playing Dunk Dreams a lot recently too...
 
hey guys, I managed to get a couple more games. I got magical drop 2, windjammers, real bout 2. and heres the surprising part, I managed to get metal slug 1 for cd off ebay for $52 I was pretty excited about that :o breakers was awesome, I played it in the arcades a few times. I didnt know it was made for neo geo cd as well though, ive never seen it for the cd. how much does it usually go for?
 
hm... depends on the condition.. but near mint with spine can go $80-90 sometimes more.

SOMETIMES the game just doesn't move at its top value though.

thats alot of money for breakers..but I wouldnt mind paying it if I manage to find one. ive actually been checking out your store quite alot, im thinking of ordering double dragon for ng cd from you and a spare ng cd pad. :) there is one game besides breakers that I have not been able to find at all though, burning fight. is it really that rare? I agree about the slug, I was pretty shocked no one else bid on it. I cant wait to get it since ive never played the first m slug game before. also, im thinking of picking up ninja masters eventually, do you think the game is worth the money it goes for? ive never played it before but id like to try it. if you ever get burning fight or breakers in on your online store, id like to buy them from you :)
 
I liked Ninja Masters... But I just never could drop the money on it for some reason. The loads are a bit long... but the load times have never really bothered me (most of the time). I think it is worth the money... but I see it two-ways... 1.) it's rare, 2.) it's a good game that people still want.

As for Burning Fight... I am kicking myself for not buying one that I had in stock. I had around 10 of the New/US ones at one point... They went quickly. I don't think I charged enough... but back then the price was not as high yet. I think it is pretty rare as I just don't see it around very much anymore. I see Brikinger more than that game. AT TIMES, you will find it floating around with collections.

ninja masters looks like a good game from what ive seen from the screenshots, but the lowest I have found it for so far is $90. id rather find it alittle lower then that, its definately not impossible since I managed to find metal slug 1 for $52. speaking of that, I got metal slug 1 and real bout 2 in the mail a few days ago. metal slug is great, I cant believe I havent played the first one before this because ive been missing out. real bout 2 is also pretty excellent, I didnt get to play it that long but its got great controls and great visuals. I also got windjammers in the mail, its a fun game but im also still figuring out some of the controls for it. about burning fight, I did see it once on sale a month ago from a independent seller but it already sold by the time I enquired about buying it, it looks like it might be a good game though. hopefully ill find one eventually. I think ill be ordering a few games from your store once I get payed in the next 2 weeks :)
 
Real bout 2 is a hard game to come by anymore... what did you get that for?

I've owned the Metal Slug 1 US version since 1997 I believe... I JUST happened to find it new/sealed/ us for $49.99 back then   ;)  I know it came out before 1997... but that is the 1st I saw it on the Neo CD format in a store... I got Pulstar US / new for the same price.  That was the 1st AND last times I saw those games in store ... until I had my store open... and started stock Neo CD goods.

I am sure you'll find Ninja Masters for a cheaper price.... it's just hard :) I've seen Metal Slug 1 hit lower too... it has been lately which is of.

Ninja Masters is one of the best games the Neo has to offer. I only have the cart to go by, but if the CD is even half as good as the cart, my friend 90 dollars is soooooooooo worth it.
 
Ninja Masters is not worth the money. Don't get me wrong it plays like a dream but it looks like a SNES game, tiny characters with OK animation and awful, mostly static, backgrounds. $90? No chance! Just because it's rare(ish)...
