No one said it was 3D. In fact, it would work just fine as a 2D game.

When's the last time they brought back an old franchise in 2-D? I'm not saying they haven't...but I just don't remember any.

fire emblem (again) with a 3D look but with the same 2D gameplay, there's also new super mario bros, there's phantom hourglass (being 2.5D) and kirby crystal shards

Yeah, but 3 out of the 4 you stated are on handhelds, no? I'm sure they could bring him back to his 2-D roots, but I just don't think that will happen. That's all.

Third party, but Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. And like Zidart said, Phantom Hourglass, New Super Mario Bros., Kirby has stayed 2D throughout 3D consoles.

And as I've said, Phantom Hourglass and New Super Mario Bros. are perfect for handhelds. Kirby has stayed 2D...but the last game he was in was for the 64, right?
 
Uh, no, his latest game was for the DS. :/ I don't know why you think there's been no Kirby games since 2000.

it's actually 2 out of the four thank you very much, if you are going to make an assumption about nintendo franchises you better look for info first

and the kirby that was planned for wii (and probably will come back sonner or later) was stated to be 2D.
 
The Wii is the most likely console to have 2D games this gen, so I don't see why it's so unlikely.

besides reviving old games to 3D is nintendo's specialty

...And? Let's say a console comes out with no shooter titles at launch. Can we say it's unlikely for one to show up because there hasn't been one yet? No. You just have to wait.

A genre and a dimension are too wildly different things. And also, I never said it would be 3-D. I just don't know why they wouldn't.

All I'm doing is speculating. Give it a rest guys. :)

Because Factor 5 believes it would work better if it was left as 2D, like Sonic Team should have done with Sonic?

Yep. I woke up one day and said "Kid Icarus for the Wii will prbably be 3-D". That's about the jist of it. And I haven't seen many 2-D games on the Wii. Now before anyone freaks, of course it can and might happen. I just don't...and I hate to use it for the umpteenth time...THINK it will happen.
 
I don't think we can take that concept art seriously yet. I still think it looks too much like Prince of Persia, as if some PoP/Kid Icarus fanboy was projecting his fandoms onto each other. Especially since Pit looks nothing like that in SSBB. The character design in SSBB doesn't differentiate from the games those characters are in by that much. I'll wait until I see confirmation on IGN or 1up.
