Legend of Dragoon

Well, to those who care, I am on my second run through this game. I found a walkthough online, and I printed it out (Shhhh, don't tell anyone!!) am having a lot more fun with it.

I got Dart and Rose all the way up to their final Dragoon Additions, and I haven't even started on the third disk yet. Albert is easier to master now too. And Kongol is already on his second Dragoon Addition. I got them all leveled up sooner because in the Phantom Ship, I spent like 5 hours just doing small battles to level them up.

After I beat it, I think my third run I will get all of the Star Dust in the game. I haven't tried this time, and found only one by accident (I haven't been looking for them).

Okay, last night I finally finished disk three!! at 34 hours so far, this game is loooooong!! Now to disk four!! This game is getting better and better as I go on. Now I am currently stuck in an area called the Death Frontier. Somewhat confusing, but a great place to level up again.

I won't do any spoils, but the last five minutes of disk three, there are like a million plot twists. And the cut scenes are crazy cool.

i remember seeing ads for this game waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back and saying to myself, it looks like this game oculd make some good times, but i havent played it

This game is directly responsible for my interest in RPGs. The only game I have played that I feel has the same magic in story telling is Final Fantasy X. All others that I have played, although enjoyable, have failed to captivate me like Legend of Dragoon.

I remember buying Legend of Dragoon on impulse at Funcoland, I had no prior knowledge of the game at all. I figured the game would be good, but I never expected it to become one of my all time favorites! I'm glad I've waited so long to play it again, because now it will seem new all over again :)

Ok, it's just I went to a forum once that also did reviews for games, and this got a shocking 4/10. I'm hoping this site was stupid and it's actually a great game.

I have seen this also. But I am not sure why. My guess is that it wasn't a Final Fantasy game and therefore deemed as "generic." And of all the (few) people who have said that they hated this game, they never gave a solid reason.

I am now in this Law City. I have just saved, and have yet to explore it. I even used Dart's Red Eye Dragon command for the first time on the Last Kraken fight. Kinda crazy, and sucks up the SP, but does massive damage. I haven't tried Albert's Green Eye Dragon yet. For some reason it seems that wind elements are somewhat weak. And Albert's physical attacks are crazy powerful.

So would I enjoy this if I love RPGs with turn-based battle systems (mainly FF)?

Nononononono!

I'm trying to jump in and save you here. Don't buy this game unless it's free. And at that point I'd advise you throw it in a hole filled with oil and toss a lit zippo lighter in there.

Legend of Dragoon is crap, like 99% of Sony's in house garbage of the old days. It didn't score low because it "wasn't FF", it scored low because "it sucked".

Nah, it's a great game, I'm gonna advise you to not listen to Sartori this time and go with the majority. I mean, Sartori makes it sound like it's the worst game ever or something, maybe that has something to do with who makes the game, I dunno. Just get it, you won't regret it :)

For sure. Sartori holds grudges on games and doesn't let up. Haha it's ok...I do the same with certain games. :lol

At least try this game out. 8)

Notice how I said the early in house Sony games all sucked ass. Consider the implications of that statement and realize yours are worthless conjecture.

At any rate, this game IS garbage. It's unbalanced, it's bland, the story goes nowhere interesting, the combat is broken, etc. Been there, done that. If you want a game from SCE that's actually GOOD, buy Wild Arms series developed by Media Vision. 1-4 and ACF. ACF rocks if you loved the first one.

Odd. I am on my second time through this game. And I see no problem with the combat system. One thing I would say is if it were set up like FFX, with the player being able to adjust who is fighting during the battle, it would be better. But I simply don't see the case as to why anyone would say that the combat system is "broken." My guess is people out there who can't master the additions gets frustrated and writes the whole game off. Also, the story is great. The plot is solid, and rarely if ever deviates from the storyline.

I do understand that everyone has different tastes in games. That's life. But rather than telling someone taht this game is "garbage", I would have said something like, "You know, I didn't like this game. Try it out, but don't expect much."

Bottom line is I believe that this game could be considered a cult classic. It is a fun and captivating story with a battle system that is a lot more than simply smashing the X button.

To even attempt to elevate that title to "cult classic" is hilarious.

That's all.

:lol This what I'm talking about, I get different opinions on this game wherever I go. People either love it or hate it.

I'm still going to give it a try though, just need to find a decently priced copy.
