Looking to safely dispose of your broken old console? Turn to Best Buy!

Sometimes, if you're quick enough, you can trade in an old console for something useful. Like money. But other times, you let them gather dust so long they're nigh on worthless.

Or more commonly, they break. So you throw them out. But throwing them out is a total waste, because those parts can be both recyclable and potentially bad for the environment.

So before you throw out that busted old GameCube you found at the bottom of your closet, consider Best Buy's recycling program, which our American readers will probably find a lot more convenient than most other outlets that do similar work. They'll take your console, strip out the bits that can be reused, and dispose safely of those that can't.

In case you're wondering, yes, it's free.

:'( It's a graveyard for consoles....what kind of dark place is this?! Interesting concept, but why Best Buy out of all the people?

Why not? Best Buy is one of, in not the, biggest electronics chain in the country. It's for all of electronics, not just consoles. Plus, it's a pain to actually find a decent recycling center that will take old electronics. this is much more convenient.

Oh I'm not disagreeing, just the humor factor of me, seeing poor innocent little systems being RIPPED TO PIECES and the poor little Oompa Loompas were so small and helpless, they would get gobbled up right and left. A Wangdoodle would eat ten of them for breakfast and think nothing of it. And so, I said, "Come and live with me in peace and safety, away from all the Wangdoodles and Hornswogglers and Snozzwangers and rotten Vermicious Knids." :)
