March 09' is a good month for Nintendo.

maybe they are not concerned because the games are aimed at different audiences.... besides why is it necessary to buy a game in day 1?

Well we have seen companies move games so they dont compete with each other constantly. Like the fate of November in which 79 games were released that one same week. Nintendo didnt release both MARIO KART and BRAWL in the same month, in fact, they seem to not have released any of their titles in the same month...

And plus some of us like to buy games on day 1 to have the first fruits of experiencing the titles that we love best. Why buy a console on day 1? Why cash a paycheck on day 1? Why eat breakfest?

Before your argument goes any further, how about considering the release date of these games? They are coming out in March. Currently, it is December. Unless you are piss poor at saving money, you can probably save enough from now until March to buy both of them. If you are somehow unable to save enough money over the course of 2+ months, maybe you're not as excited about these games as you think you are, and it doesn't matter anyway that they come out at the same time or whether you need to get it on day 1.

Well Im not complaining about them both, I was just looking at it from a business standpoint. No one releases two products of the same company such as video games on the same day, EA didnt release FIFA 09 and Mirrors Edge on the same day.

I'm inclined to agree with the first part, and disagree with the second. I do think the games are slated to release on the same day because they are dissimilar. However, from a business standpoint, the process involved in determining a game's release date is extensive, and 1st day game sales are incredibly important for the game's overall success. Every day that passes after a game has been released lessens the likelihood of it being purchased as other anticipated games are released. The hype machine works overtime up to a game's launch, and begins to peter off once the game has come out. 1st day sales, 1st week sales, and 1st month sales are generally the highest for any game than the following days, weeks, and months, so doing poorly on the 1st day can doom a game as it may in fact indicative low overall sales. LBP is an excellent example of this.

Its not necessary to buy a game on day 1, but it is necessary for a game studio's success to sell a lot of games on day 1.
