Re: Mass Effect 2 Thread

Just started playing last night (with Lv60 import, and the story background I wanted :D ). Lovin' it.

I admit though, got really confused with the controls at first, and the manoeuvres. I can see why they scrapped some ideas, but there's this annoyance with their own cover ideas that just screws around. Like how you can't reload/ change weapon and take cover simultaneously. And sometimes if you strafe along a barricade and intersect a wall, it assumes ou want to stand up against said wall (or object).

I agree with other members complaints about the subtitles. I have them on to understand what's being said when the sounds too low, our the voice isn't high enough. But don't you think they'd have added a silhouette behind it, just to make the text stand out a little during cinematic's? What's the use if the text is too small or blends in with the scene?

ONE MORE THING! Why the hell did they make both the Left and Right stick buttons activate the map????? FREAKING USELESS! You need ONE stick to engage the map, and the other should have been left for crouching! Which ever dipstick made that error, please, rectify it if and when a Mass Effect 3 comes out.

But, criticism aside, the graphics are great, I love the new Normandy and that they actually have a more realistic size ratio and proportion for the exterior and interior scenes. Scrapping the huge exploration maps on planets is good too. After a while, it gets really old and annoying. The Mako could only climb so much. Finding resources is so much more easier now. The researching idea is cool too, and having to decide what armour and weapons to equip at the start of every mission is cool too. Makes one have to really consider the best plan of attack.
Oh, and thank good they removed that STUPID action from the first, where being hit my a high explosive or Biotic attack left you flung to the ground, and 'retardedly' stuck to slowly recover while you got shot to hell! Now it just knocks you back and gives you at least a small chance to get back into cover.

I'm looking forward to going further into the game. Just up to rescuing Tali now. Those Geth wont know what hit'em!

Kasumi DLC finally priced :)

Re: Mass Effect 2 Thread

So she the recruitable character that doesn't appear in the regular Dossiers? ... and i was hoping it'd be something awesome that you could discover through extensive gameplay.

-edit-
Nevermind. I've beaten the game, and found the last member anyway... Didn't think I'd ever team up with one of them though.

Mass Effect 2, Which One?

Forgive me if this is in the wrong spot.

Recently I rented Mass Effect 2. I like it on the 360, but I find the controls clunky and slow. While looking for a copy to buy I find that it came out on the PC as well. So, has anyone here played the PC version. Which would you get and why?

Re: Mass Effect 2, Which One?

I havn't played the PC version, but I'll put forward some advice.

If you find using a 360' controller to be a little difficult, then perhaps you're better off with the PC version. Some people find Shooters a lot easier on Pc, due to the mouse controlling the reticule.

Though, in my opinion, the control layout for ME:2 is a bit heavy regardless, it's how it was programmed. So if you'd prefer the convenience of running it on the console as opposed to your computer, then go for it and work at it. The controls are 'clunky', as you put it, you begin, but you get the hang of it easily enough, as with any new game.

Re: Mass Effect 2 Thread

I got the Kasumi DLC.

As a mission, it's kind of lame. Although, the dress they thought up for a female Shepard is not bad. ;)

Kasumi as a character is also quite one-dimensional. But, Kasumi as a member of your party is awesome. Her flashbang ability is pretty deadly. She also can turn nearly invisible, which is awesome.

Re: Mass Effect 2 Thread

I own it for the PC and it works BEAUTIFULLY. I haven't seen many hiccups in my 1 1/2 playthrough(s). Mass Effect had more problems for me than Mass Effect 2 technically. GET IT. :D

Re: Mass Effect 2 Thread

Sweet! I did notice Mass Effect 2 for PC gets waaaaaay better reviews than the first one for PC.
