Re: Mega Presents: The Most Beautiful Creation. "The FC 3 Plus"

Wow. 20 years ago, if you said a system like this would exist in two decades, people would punch you in the face for taking sides in the semi-ancient console wars.

Now you have a system that plays games from once competing companies.

I bet in 10 years we'll have a system that plays PS2, GC, and XBOX games, and isn't a PC filled with emulators.

Re: Mega Presents: The Most Beautiful Creation. "The FC 3 Plus"

BLASPHEMY!!! Though as you said yourself, it'll be the same reaction now as it would be later with the that very deal.

Excuse me for being dumb, but what is G Factor? :-[

Re: Mega Presents: The Most Beautiful Creation. "The FC 3 Plus"

That is a very good question. The G Factor is apparently another retro gaming machine that makes a special cartridge?

According to Atari-Age.com

I believe the "G-Factor" they are referring to is the Yobo "Factor 5" game console, as it came with a 5-in-1 multicart of homebrew games, and one of them has lightgun support. The multicart that comes with the Factor-5 is shaped just like it shows on the FC-3 box.

Inside the box, you'll have a Power supply, AV Cables, the system, 2 controllers, and a Light Gun! That is a solid bargain for any retro fan!

Close up shot of the three eyed monster! Ooo spooky! *points to the right* Handy dandy switch that toggles between the three types of systems. (points to the middle) From top to bottom...NES...Genesis...SNES (Points to the left of the system) Power and a Reset button

Controller.jpg

Close up of the controller, a very small controller, but it's like a cross breed between a SNES and a 6 button controller (works amazingly well with all Street Fighters on SNES and Genesis). Only feels weird if you're playing Donkey Kong Country however.

LightGun.jpg

THIS IS MY BOOMSTICK! Any questions!? This light gun feels lighter than the original gun and it's pretty accurate. Just remember, you CANNOT use these guns on HDTV's, only old school CRT TV's

Input.jpg

The controller input is where it gets tricky, you see, the tip is specially made for this system ONLY. If your controller is broken or damage, good luck trying to replace it. I wish they would have let you use the NES or Genesis controllers :( This same problem happened with the "Gen-X" system (Plays NES and Genesis), since they are designed by the same company.

FC5.jpg

Close up of what it looks like from behind. AV Inputs on the left, the middle is a special toggle switch that allows you to play import Japanese games, however each of the proper slots can only fit American cartridge games, so this feature was rather useless to place on this model, and finally, the power input.

Here's a comparison shot of what the system looks like when placed against a real NES and Sega Genesis. (Jealous they are, but here's the real story...)

Performance: 7 out of 10
The FC 3 Plus still falls short from perfection. Sadly, this system still cannot play Super Mario RPG (SNES), CastleVania 2 or 3 (NES), and has trouble with Mega Man 4 (NES) :( However, the FC Twin (NES/SNES) could not play STAR FOX SNES, yet the FC 3 Plus can! So that's just a minor upper advantage

Sound: 5 out of 10.

The SNES and Genesis side of the system is good, but on Streets of Rage 2 on Genesis, the music screws up and doesn't sound anything like the original. When you play an NES game, the sound volume is cut in half and the sound effects on the original Super Mario Bros sound like cheap emulation.

Video quality: 6 out of 10

NES colors are screwy, Mario looks faded out. When I played Donkey Kong Country, there were ugly bars all over the TV that I couldn't get rid of. However, unlike the Gen-X or FC Twin, the colors are much improved when playing Genesis or SNES games.

Overall: 6 out of 10. A nice attempt at making a triple dream come true, but if you have the original systems handy, stick with those. Sure it's nice to have a space saver, but you'll crave the original system more and more.

Recommendations. The best of the best of system clones, is still the "Retro Duo". Perfect sound and playback on all SNES games, but some NES games need work, i still can't believe they screwed up Super Mario 3's BGM. What a disgrace!

Other than these flaws, The FC 3 Plus system is one sweet conversational piece!

*claps* After that insight, I think I'd rather hunt down the systems individually. But I was considering that space saving feature... and with my room?... well... yeah, probably would come in handy since there's no space next to my TV anymore for a bulky system to sit... Poor 360' already has to sit on top of a box along with its power supply in hopes that the dirty carpet wont get into its air vents :lol

Re: Mega Presents: The Most Beautiful Creation. "The FC 3 Plus" NOW WITH MORE RE

I know you covered this but to understand clearly, are you saying that the controllers from the Gen-X are not interchangeable with the FC 3? Or, are all the systems put out by this company have its own proprietary controllers?

Gen-X controllers will work on the FC 3 Plus, since they have the exact same input. So, basically they are the only two that are interchangeable. Yet the FC Twin has the ability to use the original SNES controller.
