Lets settle this once and for all!!!
The lasts game in the Splinter Cell series brought the plot in a new, generally better direction. You are no longer working at Third Echelon, killing terrorists. You are being hunted by them. Plus, Metal Gear's plot line gives the game problems feeling more realistic.Boom$ickle said:I remember almost falling asleep while playing SC2 (in a bad way) and I remember not being able to put the controller down in MGS2, which was made 3 years earlier. MGS has a MUCH more creative plot than SC (SC is "Stop terrorists from launching a nuke" MGS is "Stop terrorists from launching a nuke and confronting your destiny and fears.)
Its not supposed to be realistic. Theres a 200 year-old sniper and a bisexual vampire in it! Realism sucks. I personally play games to escape reality.Homicidal Cherry53 said:The lasts game in the Splinter Cell series brought the plot in a new, generally better direction. But that's part of what's appealing about Splinter Cell. It makes you feel as though you are actually a spy.Boom$ickle said:Its not supposed to be realistic. Theres a 200 year-old sniper and a bisexual vampire in it! Realism sucks. I personally play games to escape reality.
I could honestly say the same thing about MGS, and a bad camera, and bad controls at certain times certainly doesn't help its case either...Strubes said:Metal Gear Solid.
Sam Fisher's overrated. Having mediocre games doesn't help much either.

Fine, Thief invented the 3D stealth genre...Hinesmdc said:no, metal gear did on the NES
Yeah, it took me hours of playing Pandora Tomorrow to finally get the hang of it, but I found that after I got over the learning curve, it was a far more satisfying game, and part of that came from the realism. Plus, the multiplayer mode was not only original, but a ton of fun.Mai Valentine said:MGS.
Splinter Cell is too realistic and as such is very unforgiving when you are new to it.
MGS is a little more video-gameish and less realistic and I had more fun with it as a result.

EDIT: Wait, it came out a month after Metal Gear Solid. Nevermind...
