You heard it from the man himself. He wants a 3rd New Super Mario Bros on 3DS! ASAP!

Short answer? It's easier to slap 3D on a game that's already sold millions of units than to put effort into the creation of something new. Now with NSMB Wii, they sort of reinvented that game with multiplayer, but even that description I just gave is kind of pushing it because it was still essentially the exact same game. It's max profit for minimal work.
 
Well actually they remade the game from scratch with new levels and graphics and everything. Like ive played both of them on the DS and Wii and they are different games altogether. The only thing thats same is that beginning part of the level wit the blocks and the one has a mushroom in it on world 1-1.

I owned the DS game and played a pretty considerable amount of the remake- they're not that much different. They're so alike the have basically the same name.
