My Xbox 360 died today...*tear*

MegaDrive20XX

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
it all started with Gears of War, one of the new update patches came out around last week, I got it on Wednesday night which, caused it to freeze. So, today..I got King Kong for 360. It ask me for another update patch. bam. It froze again. I call Mircosoft.

The guy over the phone tells me to hit this on the controller when in Memory menu. X X...LB..RB...XX..
"This is will fix your Harddrive, will you continue?" pops up.
okay, sounds easy...I accept the prompt.
so he tells me to load a game that gives me problems, I pick Gears of War. The 360 asked me for ANOTHER update patch and the guy on the phone tells me, "Deny it"

It freezes again. so I take out the game manually by shutting it down, turn it back on and then open the tray...
He says, "remove the Harddrive and start up a game without it"...
I boot up again...and you hear *BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP* froze right at the 360 logo orb/sphere..

Sadly, she was only 7 days away from her birthday...Manufactor date was June 17th, 2006...(thank god for that 1 year warranty..I came close to the deadline lol)

My poor baby...I named her "Big Bertha Betty"...she was a good girl...*tears* :'( she's gonna be buried in 3 to 5 business days...Mircosoft is gonna send me the proper box (Coffin)...UPS is where the funearl services will be held...

I'm scared cause my disc drive is making really strange noises when it first reads the disc. I, for some crazy reason, decided to use the email approach because I'm scared to death of phones and I get some sh*t back saying that the processor is so mightily awesome that it needs a super-powered fan to cool it. OMG i know what the retarded fan sounds like, this is like the disc drive motor dying on me. Plus the disc tray doesn't open/shut sometimes.

I don't know... I HATE talking on them.

hm.......

anyway, my 360 has been acting up as well. there have been times that the disc tray wont open. also, every once in a while when playing oblivion, i get a message saying "this disc is not readable," and I have to turn the system off and restart. its a brand new game, which leads me to think that its the system thats having problems, not the game itself.

aaaaaaah i hope i dont have much more trouble, i saved up for 5 months to buy this thing.... :-[

It's sad that I have to use others as guinea pigs. But this is one of the main reasons why I don't buy new systems at launch. Right when I decided to set money asside for a new PS2, my brother-in-law's PS2 got a free trip back to Sony for a major overhaul. Also, sometimes there's slim pickins as far as games are concerned.

i wouldnt discourage buying it. its a great system with great games, but it has its share of problems, along with every other system on the market.

True. But I am finicky about my consoles. Although I keep all reciepts, boxes and manuals, I can't help but sit on the fence and wait a while before making a purchase. Heck, I bought my PS2 a year and a half before the PS3 release, my Cube a month after the Wii release, and the 360 was out at least two months before I aquired my Xbox. I also think it's because I am a used book/music/game store junkie. And older consoles tend to have extremely lower prices than the brand new stuff.

ah yes, im one for used games too. i always love a great bargain, i just picked up all three prince of persia games AND shadow of the colossus for only $55, but lets not discuss that. well the 360s been out a year, so the minor problems that have been discovered wont get any worse. if I were you, that would be enough :-\

That happens with mine too. I mean, it's well used and has some minor scratches, but seriously... Nothing like that should make it unreadable. You should see some of my old PS1 games.

Idk how much longer my 360 will last either. 3 days ago, my brother accidentally knocked it off where it stands four feet above the ground for the second time. It now has a small crack in the intake vent and is running slightly slower. If it happens again, I may be sending it away in a UPS coffin. :'(

My PS2 froze up on my once when I was playing a PSX game on it. It skeered me. Now it's fine. My first Xbox had the "Red Ring of Death" the day I got it. And my NES had the blinking red light until I rebuilt it.

Maybe I'll buy a 360 and put it next to my PS2 so it will be inspired not to break on me. :lol

Mine has been doing this since i bought it over a year ago... pleanty of times have brand new games frozen on it and everytime i play it freezes 5 minutes un without fail and i have to reboot it, but after that it will be fine

Mine is sometimes finicky about reading perfectly fine discs.

Once I was trying to play Final Fantasy XI and the 360 kept saying "Please insert this game into a 360." And I was like WTF, this is a 360! So I put in my friend's copy of the same exact game and it worked fine. And my copy worked fine on his system. So I think my system was just being stupid momentarily.

Another time I was playing Guitar Hero II and I signed off so my girlfriend could play. I left the game on though and she signed on with her GamerTag, and when she went to play the game, it said "Could not read disc." And again I was like WTF because I had just been playing it. So I restarted the system and it worked fine.

Well my xbox 360 finally gave out today, I bought it last November so the warranty is still good

it worked fine for 6 months and then suddenly it started freezing mid game in all my games, then today when my 360 froze after I turned it off and turned it back on, instead of it going back to normal I get the RED LIGHT OF DOOM, luckily there doesn't seem to be a problem with my hard drive so I can keep all my save files
