New GamerTag ideas

I am bored of my GamerTag. I've had it for six years so I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner. :lol

Anyway, I am not sure yet what I want to change it to. Any suggestions?

Avoid lame gamer tags based on Nintendo characters (example: MisterMario), the Halo universe (ex: SpartanEmoted), or guitar amps (BlackVoodoo). Those would probably make some silly names... Same with naming yourself after CLASSIC AWESOME game systems (ex: MegaGenesis) or having hardcore X all over the name (ex: xMaixValentinex).

Definitely avoid anything having to do with l33t sp34k or having 1337 in the gamertag along with references to snipers (xsniperonex).

Personally, I have trouble with "Grindspine" being confused with skateboard grinding or coffee grinders. Don't get me wrong, I do skateboard once in a while and love fresh ground coffee, but also dig grindcore and sub sandwiches (grinders).

It is important to make sure a gamertag is something that represents YOU... That's all the advice I have for now. :D

Grindspine :lol

While I'm on the subject, is there an easy way to tell what names are already taken? In case I think of something I like?

I think it lets you put the name in and stuff before it charges you. Not sure if I'm remembering right though, it's been a while since I've changed mine.

Edit: Yeah you just click on your little square under My Xbox and goto change gamertag. You can put in names and stuff til you get one that's available.

I will deal with you later Mr. GrindSkater... >.> For now, you are dead to me. I see no insult to CreepinDeth. :P

You could just go off spur like me and place words that bare little relevance to much else, or anything for that matter, and piece it together to create something different and new that you'd think no-one else would ever use anywhere else.

Oh... and don't forget to leave off a letter and claim you did it on purpose and henceforth keep it that way.

But as Grindspine put it, choose a name to reflect yourself. Hell, even a common name would work, really. If you feel you like it, and it suits, go for it.

(and while I'm contradicting my own name, I did put thought to it, do have a reason for it, and the 'e' really is a spelling error that stuck because I felt it made it less likely to occur among those with any sense of spelling or grammer).

Good luck finding your inner chi... I mean, online name, Mai. :)

I always thought it was like, a year number. like 2011, only with the last two digits missing so it made sense as the years changed.

Well MDXWolf doesn't make sense. MegaDrive20XX makes sense, but I had to change it due to getting headshot all the time in Halo >.<

Key word of advice: LONG NAMES = BIG TARGET
