From game politics:
A new study claims that one in twelve (8.5%) of gamers age 8-18 shows signs of being addicted to their hobby.

One of the groups behind the study is National Institute on Media and the Family which has shown numerous times over the years that it has axe to grind against the gaming industry and ERSB.

Personaly I don't believe anything that NIMF says since they have shown in the past they have no problem making sensational accusations without having any sort of real basis for them and out right lying. I have seen this study mentioned on acouple of other boards and thought you guys should know about it.

Meh, studies like this are a dime a dozen. They're generally ill-defined and poorly tested. This one seems like no exception.

Even if their statistics are somehow accurate, 1 in 12? That's really not that high. I don't see any verifiable trend in that. Maybe its just that 1 in 12 kids have addictive personalities, which seems entirely normal.
