No, of course everyone has their opinions. So far I'm enjoying my Cube and actually feel that the games on it have been far better than than the ones on the N64.
 
One of the posts related to an article Tommy V posted explained perfectly why the name "Wii," regardless of what each individual thinks about it, is a bad choice.

As Steve Manning of Igor International said in the Rocky Mountain News article, "The biggest key to figuring out it’s a bad name is when they explain it. You don’t have to explain a good name, you have to explain a bad name."

Nobody's going to get the name until it's explained, which is simply bad brand marketing. "GameCube" and "Game Boy" are good names because they're self-explanitory, "Xbox" is even alright as it sounds modern and powerful. "Wii" falls flat, as you have no clue why someone would ever want to name a game console that unless they give you the etymology behind it. It's just not good.

I understood the meaning behind the name Wii before I heard any explanation.....I call any Nintendo console a "Nintendo" anyway..not by its given name like Gamecube,Gameboy,N64 etc etc

yes you are wrong. I'm also wrong (so you say) for not liking the Ps2 selection.... but hey.. that's because it's the PS2, right? It's ok not to like Nintendo games... but when it comes to Sony games... I have to like it.

The Gamecube does have tons of good games... at least games that I ENJOY.


btw.. that last Wii joke wasn't funny.... from ytmnd... I think that site is trying a wii too hard :lol

Finally. Someone actually explaining what is going on.

I understand people don't like the Cube. It does not have that great of a game selection as the other two consoles. That does not mean it's a poor product to everyone. I also understand that there is fanboyism, but it happens on both sides.

Neph if you like PS2 and not the Cube, then it should be ok for someone to like the Cube and not like the PS2. It's all about personal preference. I don't see why people get so uptight about this. It's just videogames. They are meant to be fun and not to be taken so seriously.

Ahh, wii wii!! I agree on this. But I am willing to bet that Creepin's logic will start a war of words because it makes sense.

As for the Wii name. It sucks, to put it bluntly. I am sure that the console will be great. But this name will hurt it's sales because it's laughable.

Yeah I know. I really wish I knew what exactly was going on in their heads when they agreed upon this name.
 
Well they say any publicity is good publicity and seeing as everyone is talking about the "Wii" I think Nintendo is getting exactly what they were after.

Hopefully we'll get a dose of that mentality when Reggie gets up on stage next week. I can hardly wait to get on the floor and try out that Wii. It'll be everything or nothing, and I'd prefer to find out sooner than later.

I'm sure there will be tons of pictures on the internet, but if you're asking me to specifically take pictures of the Wii on the floor I can. I'll try to get one of me next to Wii. Or holding Wii. Or touching Wii... . anything .. with... Wii.. I just like saying Wii at this point.
