Making a sequel would mean having to make one of the endings canon, though. I still think it's more likely for it to be a prequel.

There's a few different things they talk about in the article, but here's the chunck about Bioshock 2.

Along with better-than-expected-but-still-unprofitable earnings, Take-Two Interactive had both bad and good news to deliver to gamers today. First, the good: As had been rumored for months, 2K Marin is now officially developing a sequel to BioShock, the award-winning action adventure title from the studios formerly collectively known as Irrational Games.

Inventively titled BioShock 2, the game will be released during the fourth quarter of Take-Two's 2009 financial year. That means the game would arrive sometime between August 1 and October 31, 2009, on unspecified platforms. The first BioShock was released on August 25, 2007 for the Xbox 360 and PC, and has gone on to sell over 2 million copies worldwide.

Speaking with an analyst in a postearnings conference call, Take-Two Chairman Strauss Zelnick confirmed that Ken Levine, head of former Irrational studios 2K Boston and 2K Australia, would be involved with the project--as well as an all-new mystery game. "Ken is a terrific asset to the company, brilliant game designer," reassured Zelnick. He also reconfirmed Levine is working on "a new IP."

For next time, I'm not sure if you know so I'm going to let you in on a very handy tip: the forum has a search function. There has already been several posts about Bioshock 2...all you have to do to find them is put Bioshock 2 in the search engine and it will find them for you.

The Search button is in the upper part of the screen. It may be on the left or right, depending on your layout. But it has a box where you can input text, and right next to it is the word "Search."

The movie is also supposedly that, so I'd say it's pretty much up in the air at this point.

Plus, Bioshock isn't supposed to be played in an area where you're surrounded by friendly NPC's. That completely removes the psychological element of the game.

Not really details...just a map of a globe, a picture of a big daddy doll, and a date (2/20/67), but still better than nothing!

I like not knowing a whole lot bout games. :)

Actually it tells us quite a bit. It tells us the game takes place in 1967, and (sort of speculation) the basic premise for the plot. Big Daddies are kidnapping little girls off of the land for some reason (maybe a lack of Adam?) and that the player will inevitably have to shlep back to Rapture, meaning that 2k Marin will just recycle the themes and brilliance of Irrational and the original BioShock, meaning that a sequel is still a bad idea and taking the game out of Irrational's hands is an even worse idea. >________>

BioShock 2 introduces, "Big Sisters". A female version of the Big Daddies have appeared in this game.

If this is a prequel, I'm hoping they give a good reason as to why the Big Sisters aren't in Bioshock 1. So this should be cool to see.

BTW, the dates on the promo site say 1967 so I don't think it'll be a prequel.
