So I figured since the first few games of Spring Training have just been played, I thought I'd start this since there are a few baseball fans on this board.

I'll start off by saying I just secured my seats for the first game of the series between the Dodgers vs. Yankees. I'm also going to be seeing them this Saturday in Phoenix against the Chicago White Sox.

Rooting for my Dodgers as always but I don't know how exactly I feel about them. On one hand, everyone on the team seems to be pumped and ready. The majority of the team reported early for Spring Training, including Manny who was there a full week before official workouts began. But on the other hand, pitching has been our weakest link and we didn't make a run for an ace or good solid number 5.

Well, if there's any consolation, MLB 2K10 ranked the Dodgers as 5th overall and MLB 10 The Show ranked us 4th overall.

Can't wait for this season to begin!!!

Spoken like a true fan. :)

Cool thread Creepin! I am super excited for this season. I have not been to a game for so long mainly because I could not stand that Dome, but now that we got our new outdoor stadium I can't wait to go to games! I have pretty high hopes for us this year. Our pitching is a bit weak, but we still have a super solid defense and pretty good offense. I hope my boy Mauer has another spectacular season! Go Twins! :)

I understand a dome not being proper for a baseball game, but I would've loved to have gone to a game there. Especially during the playoffs. It's too bad they couldn't beat the Yankees. I was really hoping they would.

As for Mauer, what else can you say about him? The guy is just one of the most solid players right now. Although, I don't think his defense is as good as it can be. But I haven't really followed him that much, so what do I know?

You also got Thome and Hudson. If Hudson can stay healthy, he'll help push you guys over that hump. Kind of weird how Torre treated him during the playoffs, but the guy did lose something during the second half. Not sure how well Thome will do if he doesn't play at least 100 games. Otherwise, his pinch hitting or DH at-bats will not be as good.

Baseball Tonight on ESPN had their entire show dedicated to them last night. I think they're doing it for every team until the season starts.

Yea the Dome was cool and I have some amazing memories there, but there's something about outdoor baseball that just "feels" right, ya know? I admit I will miss the Dome a bit, but that's mostly just for nostalgic reasons. Heck, we won 2 World Series there!

And yea man, Thome is huge! Let's hope he can do for us what he always did against us :P

I think Mauer's defense is pretty good. He's got a heck of an arm and I guess that's all you can really ask for in a catcher.

That indeed was too bad about last years playoffs. We have a tendency to choke in real high pressure situations like that. That is where vet's like Thome can help us big time.

So Joe Mauer still hasn't signed a contract yet? I thought they already locked him up.

In other news, Dodgers just signed Garret Anderson. Man, these guys are really digging for bargains. Not sure how well he'll do at this age.

Creepin' did you hear? We might be losing our closer Joe Nathan for the season! That would be truly devastating for us.

I heard. He might have to undergo Tommy John Surgery. That sucks.

On our end, we just lost Russell Martin for 4-6 weeks due to a pulled groin. We also lost Casey Blake for a few days from a strained rib cage. On top of that, we lost 12-0 today. Not a good day for us. :'(

Wow, you just lost Nathan for the entire season but locked down Mauer for 8 years. Talk about bitter sweet.

As for my Dodgers, they're getting their butt whooped in Spring Training. I'm glad these games don't mean anything.

Exactly, bittersweet it is. Losing Nathan is huge and I think it's gonna have a pretty big impact on this season. How is Manny doing in the pre season?

He's actually doing pretty good. Last I read, he's hitting in the .350 range and hit his first home run back on Thursday. Our pitching isn't looking so hot though. ERA's are way too high even for spring training. We'll see what happens when the regular season kicks in two weeks.

Of course! I admit it feels weird after being used to seeing the dome for so long. We're getting beat but I don't even care right now it's just so cool seeing the new field :)

GO TIGERS! Man, I can't believe we got rid of Granderson over the break. That's the one player I never wanted to see leave.

Oh well, I wonder how many superstars get caught for steroid use this year?

Granderson went over to the dark side. Not surprised really as most players want to. Which is annoying as all hell.

I don't think any players will get caught, but I have a feeling someone is going to rat out players for using it in the past.

ANNNNNNNNNDDDDD

It's official. MLB season 2010 is here. First pitch in 2 minutes. Although I can't stand the Yankees and sort of tolerate the Red Sox, it's nice to finally start the season.

3-1. We're looking pretty good so far! Liriano is *almost* pitching like he did before his surgery. How are your Dodgers looking? They are what, 1-2 now?

Now 2-2. Offense and pitching finally got their act together, but unfortunately the Giants won again. We're already 2 games back.

I must say I'm happy you killed the Angels. I have some friends talking smack about how the Dodgers lost 2 straight but they got destroyed by the Twins. So thanks!
