And here's a few reasons why I like FFX. :)

Awesome and diverse characters. (Kimhari FTW!)

Amazing Limit attacks that throw you into an in-game cut-scene, allowing you to interact with how much damage you do and when. Also, when using the correct ones, they hit for an enormous amount of damage.

Unique, compelling, and fully-engaging story. SPOILER! (Sin = Jecht?! Awesome twist)

Grid system which allows for players to customize what each of their character's strong and weak points are.

Beautiful cut-scenes. Squaresoft did a superb job.

Enough reasons? :)
Oh, and I also like how non-linear it is.

-Legendary weapons
-Side-quests
-Blitzball (unless you have a crappy team)
-Finding Jecht Spheres to help progress the story

QFT

I did the Omega Temple and leveled so much I had everyone finish their section of the Sphere Grid and move into another. XD! Lulu learned white magic, Yuna learned black magic, Auron got some of Tidus' stat boosts, Wakka got some of Auron's toughness....etc.

Blitzball was amazing once I learned how to play it well. ^_^ I had a killer team.

I loved getting all the Summons and getting some of the legendary weapons.

@ Boom, IMO many of your complaints are things that would have been easy to fix just by playing the game more.

The only complaint you made that I agree with is nonskippable cutscenes.

Well hell, dude, I could beat entire games (Better games) faster than the apparent ramp up time in FFX.

...What, no fighting? No ganging up on me? C'mon, man :lol

Nah, I don't need to. The majority of people like FFX more than FFXII...I mean, the numbers speak for themselves. Everything we're talking about is opinionated. :)

God bless the first amendment lol. Well if you ask me FFX is the biggest dissapointment in the FF series. I thought it was the worst one that they made to be honest.

The only game ive ever forced myself to enjoy was MGS2. That game got interesting after about 7-10 hours (This being the first MGS ive ever played.) Before that, I thought it was a sub par stealth game, now im the quickest to defend the series on the forums IMO. But 12 hours is just to much.

Yeah, it wasnt like the most horrific game Ive played, it just wasnt as great as the previous FF such as 7, 8, and 9. I thought those were good, especially 7, that was my favorite.

Agreed. As much as I love FFX it just doesn't compare to the older ones. But who knows how much nostalgia plays a role in that, for me at least....

Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy X are definitely two of my favorite games.

SINCE you liked the story in FFX, but didn't like the game play, try FFX-2. It's the sequel to FFX, it continues the story. It does, however, have faster gameplay.

I personally dislike the gameplay in FFX-2, and prefer that of FFX.

Also, if you're looking for a similar complex story with differing gameplay, Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerebus. Dirge of Cerebus is a First Person Shooter-style game... Though it's more like Metroid Prime (with locking on to shoot) instead of an aim & shoot FPS. If you want to get into that storyline, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is a cool little primer for it.
