Paint programs?

The argument extends something like:
Windows is to Linux as Corel is to Adobe

No offense to anyone, considering I've never used Corel or Adobe, but doesn't that mean the latter of both situations have a slightly steeper learning curve but are millions of times more powerful, stable, and overall better in all aspects?

depends who you talk with :)

Could the latter also have poor tech support, bad documentation, compatibility troubles, etc..etc..etc..?  :p :D

My corel can do anything + more than PS :D
The corel built in effect (IMO) look a lot better than PS's as well :)

thats it.. I'm gonna start getting picky with all of you!

Haha, alright. We can deal with pickyness. I'll just stick up for the bashing of Linux with one thing: it's freeware. That's why there's bad, if any, tech support and documentation. As for the compatibility troubles, there's probably millions more people that develop stuff for Windows (there's millions more people who use Windows instead of Linux) instead of Linux.

I'm sure someone who's competent at PS could do everything you do and more with PS, and make the effects look better. It's all about personal choice. I'm guessing that both of them are almost equally balanced (otherwise one company would lose money from that product) and so the real thing here is what someone prefers over another (either company, box style (you know it's true), GUI, etc.) or what someone used first and feels more comfortable using. In the corporate world, it won't matter which you go with: they'll pick the cheaper one and hire people that are good at using that software. It's all about productivity.
 
Actually trk...most corps use photoshop which is more expensive than Corel... I probably like it more for the layering. Been in the print business going on 10yrs.
