You can tell by the IP addresses, huh?

I have been trying to get people to join but I'm not sure it's working. I've seen new members joining, but it seems like the same people always posting. It's cool that people lurk but sometimes it would be nice if they posted, too. :) Maybe we should make an introduction forum for new people to just say hi, and then we can all welcome them.

Also, something to think about.... maybe we are getting too many forums? Maybe not...
we do have a lot of activity again :lol

IE nearly 400 posts yesterday :D

Also, I think it would be cool if we could put more stuff into our profiles. Like systems I own, Favorite games, online games, other hobbies, etc. That way, new people could have more to talk about with us, as well as have a basic layout of our personalties.


From now on, I'm going to try to send new members a PM, welcoming them and asking them a few questions. like, what systems do you like?
 
don't send too much to them though... they might be intimidated :)

As for the extra's like that. We might be able to do that in the future. But I only have so much time.... and right now I am tackling 1 thing at a time.

I probably will have something like that in the future... but remember..... sites with all that information tend to run a lot slower.

Its cool to have... I agree. but sometimes it can be information overload.

Maybe we don't really even need a separate forum though. An "Introduce Yourself" sticky topic in the general forum would probably work just as well. We could start out by having all the current members post a little info about themselves, and then new members could add their info when they join. As we get more members, the thread will get bigger and bigger! :D
 
Sounds good. Although I think that people should be limited to one post in the thread, making it more of an advanced user database. That way, if you were looking for info on someone, you wouldn't ahve to dig through 10 pages of discussion.

Anyways, I second the idea of an Introduce Yourself sticky topic in the general forum.
 
There has to be more support than just us three......I mean at the very worst we wasted 5 minutes typing.

what do you think about this idea BV?

Yeah, it should only be one post per member, and we should make them post according to a certain guideline.


For new members, it would be something like:

Hi! I'm new to the board! My name is _____ but you can call me ______.

My interests are _______, _______, and _________.

The systems I own are _______, ______, and ______ (or however many they own).

And finally, my top 5 games are _______ (and then they would list their top 5).

For those of us who have already been here, we could it do it the same except that instead of saying, "Hi, I'm new here," we would say something like, "Hi! I've already been on this board for a while but I thought I'd make a post here so that new members can get to know me a little better," or something of that nature.
 
well..... there are already a ton of stickied topics there.... but that is not a bad idea. Are there more than 3 users for this? :lol
