CO-OP MODE!?! WHOA!

Coming this holiday. Portal 2 is the sequel to 2007's Game of the Year and draws from the award-winning formula of innovative game play, story, and music that earned the original over 70 industry accolades. Features single and multiplayer co-op modes. The single-player portion of Portal 2 introduces a cast of dynamic new characters, a host of fresh puzzle elements, and a much larger set of devious test chambers. Players will explore never-before-seen areas of the Aperture Science Labs and be reunited with GLaDOS, the occasionally murderous computer companion who guided them through the original game. The game's two-player cooperative mode features its own entirely separate campaign with a unique story, test chambers, and two new player characters. This new mode forces players to reconsider everything they thought they knew about portals. Success will require them to not just act cooperatively, but to think cooperatively.

Re: PORTAL 2 Confirmed!

Nice! Hylian told me about this earlier, and I have to say, I'm sold because of MP. =D

Ah yes, Portal.
The infamous first-person puzzle game which depicted a captive woman in the labs of Aperture Science. She was treated like a test subject for the development of a new weapon: the "Portal gun".
This gun could shoot dimensional rifts anywhere the user pleased and could link up two rifts together in order to pass through one rift and come out of the other one.
The objective of this gun was to allow the user to bypass any type of rough terrain or puzzling obstacle thrown at them, so long as they had a solid wall, ceiling, or floor to shoot at.

The game received many accolades since it's release, and it's developer, Valve , is at it again with the upcoming release of Portal 2.

The original Portal, which was only a few hours worth of gameplay, sparked a famous internet meme, and accumulated a massive fanbase.
Doug Lombardi (the V.P. of marketing at Valve), as reported by April's issue of GameInformer magazine, said "There was no way we could have planned for it...So we knew we had to double down and give them more. Portal was a test bed. Portal 2 is a game."

You may be wondering, "But how can there be a Portal 2? Chell made it out alive at the ending!"
As you may or may not remember, the homicidal robot, GLaDOS, constantly tried to get Chell to submit and comply during the original Portal; often asking her to drop her gun and lie down on her stomach, arms out, so that Chell could go to a "party".
The beginning of Portal 2 depicts what happened after the end of the original: GLaDOS, in it's usual comedic and child-like manner, merely said that the whole situation was just another test, and that Chell had passed. In order to thank Chell for her success, they were throwing another party for her! So, GLaDOS politely asks Chell to assume the "party-position", and drop her weapon and lie down. At this time, Chell passes out from exhaustion, causing GLaDOS to thank Chell for her cooperation, and is dragged off by the "party associate".

However, the most interesting point of Portal 2's storyline is that the second game does not actually begin until hundred of years following the events in the original Portal. This leads us to assume that Chell was placed inside some kind of cryo or statis capsule. Because of this elapsed time, the technology has greatly advanced, and the same goes for GLaDOS; providing players with a much more difficult and trying task this time around.

Valve has also confirmed that Portal 2 will remain a puzzle game, and will not turn into any kind of crazy action game. The developers are sticking to the roots of Portal, and have spent most of their time figuring out ways to really try players' minds constantly, and doing so in ways without pissing them off.
There are a lot of new toys to play with (...and avoid) in Portal 2, and Valve has a lot of tricks up it's sleeve to keep gamers happily puzzled.

By far, the best feature of Portal 2 is the addition of Co-Op. Many people played the original Portal with somebody at their side to help them figure out all of the puzzles, but now that person will be able to do more than just sit and point.

This Co-Op mode is actually a stand-alone campaign, featuring two robots who enjoy holding hands as the protagonists. Each robot gets it's own portal gun, which means double the amount of portals to go though.
However, the developers have stated that they intentionally made these levels a lot harder, in order to ensure that the co-op campaign isn't just a walk in the park. This calls for a lot more fun, but requires a lot of cooperation as well.

Portal 2 will be a stand-alone title, which unfortunately means it will have a stand-alone price to tag along with it.
The good news, is that the game will be released on time for the holidays this year!
So grab your partner in crime and tell them to get their mind ready for the upcoming obstacles in Portal 2.

Surely you jest kind Sir.We here at Game Addicts didn't just fall of the turnip truck.

Re: Portal 2 - In time for the holidays

I apologize if there is a topic already in place for this, feel free to delete this one if that's the case.

However, the reason I'm a brand new member is because I just started the website.
If I really wanted to advertise it, I would have given you part of the article rather than the whole thing.

I think it's fair to post up a link to the original document.

You'll be seeing a lot more of me around here, posting things a lot like that. Why? Because it's gaming news.

Re: Portal 2 - In time for the holidays

How many forums did you visit before us?

Re: Portal 2 - In time for the holidays

Listen, I understand the reasoning behind your hostility, but I've made this website to inform gamers about the latest news and to exercise my writing and video creating abilities.
We don't have any forums, so it's not like we're competing with anybody.

Please just appreciate the article, and don't be so hasty to shoot people down.

How is this spam though? He is not advertising a service. It seems fine and legit to me.

Yeah, it doesn't seem any different from Kotaku so I don't see a problem. A source is a source. It's probably just that his name is the same as the site he posted they assume he's spamming and promoting his site.

I welcome you kind sir :D

Re: Portal 2 - In time for the holidays

Yes snatcher I agree. To me, spam is when somebody comes simply to advertise a service, typically not even having anything to do with gaming. Now I understand in the rules it says newb's cannot post links, but I do not think he should have been welcomed the way he was since he seems like a legit member.

Re: Portal 2 - In time for the holidays

Thanks for the welcome then guys. =]
And I understand, I mean this is a forum on the internet after all. :lol

It's bound to contain citizen-police.

Perhaps just not post in topics you think may be spam?

And also, I may have been too harsh at first. We get a lot of spam that looks a lot like your first post, and the rules do indeed say that new members aren't supposed to post links. But that aside, I apologize for the harshness earlier and welcome you to the forum.
