Ps3 crashed at Wal Mart.. a shocking news story.

I agree, the games are not there yet. Blueray is still new and expirimental. Thing is, any game system is for entertainment and not necessary to life. If somone has the HDTV already, they may have spent $1800 on that alone. What is another $600 to complete the picture? Choices choices :)

As far as the kids go, they need to have some fun. If I had enough cash I would spend it on a game or two for my kids.

Right. Which is my point. I have an HDTV. I'd rather play my NES/Genesis than this new "high def" era on it, to be honest. It just looks better to me. I love seeing Dragon Quest on that thing. It's amazing.

But again, the games are not justifying the purchase, despite me shelling out for a TV. I'm part of that "HDTV Era" Sony is shooting for, but I'm not taking the bait on that one.

And as far as kids go, sure, I'd buy them things, but having a fund for them and releasing it upon them on their 18th birthday is a bad idea, I think. Special exceptions apply.

Primarily the point that 18 really isn't that great an age to unleash money upon your youngling, unless they've had some good conditioning, it will merely go to waste. Unless, of course, you are managing it for them. It's difficult to have even ADULTS learn the value of a dollar, much less a child. I'd put it up at 21-25 for spending availability, unless it was managed by me.

My second point is that I do not believe you can viably justify a nearly 700 USD purchase after taxes to me. A 360 at 400+ tax? Sure, I could see the justification, despite my negativity towards it, but a Ps3? Where are the games? Explain this to me. What is so enthralling about Ps3 that I merely must get one immediately? They're everywhere, so it wouldn't be a problem.

First of all, the bank will not let them withdraw it until they are 18 and at that time I am still the primary on their account and they will not get to go buy whatever. Second, I like the PS3 and the Wii does not have Great Games on it either. Each System has that 1 Game, but I bought my PS3 for Lair actually. The 360 took a little while before Great Games came out and the 360 rocks now! Also, I got the PS3 because it is a lot cheaper for my Blue-Ray Movies than buying a Blue-Ray Player. And the HD_DVD Add-on for the 360 is the worst rated HD-DVD Player out there, so I did not want to add that on.

Yep, and especially considering you can get a good HD-DVD player for just $400 or so.

In a year the PS3 will be packed with good releases. Should see more stable hardware as time goes on as well.

Considering you're a Shin Nihon Kikaku fan, I wouldn't anticipate you would even care about the running front of technology. I've always been a fan of technology, but I'll stick to DVDs.

I love my SNK over anything, but I am a fan of Technology.  That is why I ran out and bought a 1080p HDTV (mostly because of my PS3), even though I know it will be cheaper in a few months.   :lol

But 1080p is such a pretty picture... And the 360 will start supporting it in games soon, from what I have read. GRAW 2 and Virtua Tennis 3 both can run at 1080p I have read...

Heh. It's just funny to me that I'd spend so much on an HDTV (HDMI, component, ETC) and the things I love playing the most on it are stuff like Diablo on PC, Ultima Online, X-Men on Genesis, Dragon Quest, Super Mario Bros, etc.

It's just hilarious to me that I really don't care that much how Zelda looks or whatever given game in 480P, 780P, etc, when I think the old games look so awesome blossom! :)

My girlfriend's playing Diablo on the HDTV right now. She stole my USB mouse. I hate using laptop with no mouse.. sigh...

I think playing PC games on HDTV rocks. It used to be tough with those junky s-video out connections. Now full on VGA baby :D

My new TV has a DVI port, so I could use it with my PC, but I don't want to bother moving everything and setting it up. My monitor is good for now.

Yeah, it has 2 HDMI ports as well. In fact, I think I saw a DVI to HDMI adapter at Best Buy today... that could work for a PC as well.

But I would like a 360 with HDMI...

Shouldn't there be people who actually take care of the console and fix it so the customer dont have to witness that the console can freeze up?

but thats funny though. :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
