Yakuza 3, Resident Evil 5 and Musou Orochi Z. Pave the wave for what made the PS3 outsell Wii in Japan during the month of February.

In February, the PS3 managed to sell approximately 87,000 units, according to Media Create. That's enough to put it past the Wii, which sold about 76,000 units. In March, however, Sony's lead grew, with PS3 sales reaching 116,000, Wii sales declining to less than 70,000.

Just wait, that number is gonna jump when Tales of Vesperia comes to PS3...

i guess almost everyone in japan have a wii now :lol

That is a great example, maybe the average Japanese consumer has purchased a Wii and wants to get a PS3?

Exactly, so without any doubt, it was bound to happen.

Well this is only bound to happen again, it escapres me right now but PS3 and PSP are both getting quite a few more heavy hitting games over there soon.

I just noticed here that amazon finally has the wii in stock and so does my gamestop. Everyone I know has been trying to get a 360 or PS3 for Resident Evil 5.

Lol, contrary to popular belief, this isn't because everyone has a Wii. This is because of software.

of course it goes up because of software just like the 360 did at some point, but that's because most of Japan's population didn't have a ps3 before these titles arrived, when the WII/DS/PSP sales were so high for so long that it's no surprise that the rate of sales went down..so every time a new title comes for these popular consoles japan doesn't go all crazy about it as they did before (at least not at the same level as the 360 sales)
