PS3 still outselling Wii and 360 in Japan since release of 40GB model.

Japanese retailers reported that PS3 continues to have strong sales in Japan after the launch of 40GB model, in the week of Nov 12 - 18, PS3 sold about 55,000 units, while Wii sold about 34,000 units, and Xbox 360 sold 5,600 units.

Not so much in the last few generations. The N64 and Gamecube weren't exactly huge sellers in Japan.

For the last few generations, Japan has been Sony territory (although Sega was big over there too, despite their failure everywhere else).

Yeah, and the DS is a current gen console. I'm saying Japan hasn't always been good to Nintendo.

I mean, you can't say America loves Sony just because the PS2 was successful here.
 
Of course there's no way anyone will admit to the Wii getting outsold by anything, even for a week or two. :lol

If the Wii otusells the Wii, it's because it's superior and costs less, if the PS3 outsells the Wii, it's only because of the people in Japan who are buying it. :lol
 
I'm actually surprised the PS3 is selling so well in Japan. I mean, the whole reason Nintendo made the Wii is because the hardcore market is diminishing in Japan, so they need more wide appeal.

Hey, no one ever said that. For all we know, the PS3 is outselling the Wii here too (but they haven't released any new sales figures, as far as I know).

Although it isn't just Japan who has a large Sony fanbase. The PS1 and 2 sold great in every marketplace, around the world, to be fair.
 
I love the Japanese, even though they hate Fat Americans, I still think they are the nicest/rudest people ever ^_^
