WII, PS3 AND 360 FTW (also nintendo DS XD)
So today I try playing on my PSP when it turns out the D-pad was randomly getting stuck whenever i pressed the left key. the button comes back up but my character (or in the menu of the PSP) kept going left for about a second. Now it randomly gets stuck without me pressing anything.

Now I would immediately send it to Sony for repairs but since this was a gift by my Grandma (who lives in Venezuela) she has the receipt and there's no way i can get my hands on it.

So I come here and ask, if there is any hope for my PSP, is it a common problem that anyone here knows how to fix?

If you've had it past the warranty I suggest just opening it and checking it out.

Yeah that seems to be my only option, i just hope it is just something simple that can be fixed/cleaned up but is there any precautions i should be aware of before opening it?

Maybe get a can of compressed are to blow out whatever dust is inside, and a bowl or something to keep the screws in so you don't lose any.

That'll show you were all the screws are :3

Also, some rubbing alcohol with a clean, soft rag to help clean any gunk that might also be causing the d-pad to stick. Or Q-tips if the are is too small for a rag.

Well my dad and I opened it today and cleaned it however it seems some sticky substance made its way into the Dpad contacts and it is like 2 membranes, well these 2 membranes are stuck together with no way of separating so we ordered a replacement part for them (blaming it on soda that probably spilled there while at a friend's house.... not going to look for a guilty party since it is not worth my time).

hopefully i can get my PSP to work as soon as the replacement arrives T_T

Yeah it's a real easy job to clean it I will say. When you first asked me, the warranty was the first thing that came to mind. I think it's crappy Sony won't do jack, yet Nintendo WOULD fix it in this case scenario.

Well that's because Nintendo loves their customers.

well i got bad news and good news..
i bought a replacement which arrived last Saturday, my dad tried to fix the PSP while i was gone, although the D-pad was working... in the process of putting the PSP back together he broke the LCD screen.....

the good news is that my dad is a very nice man and he said he would buy me a brand new PSP, specially since i actually had to work to get this one portable.

ONE THING FOR SURE THOUGH i am buying a protective logitech case.. one of those that cover all parts of your PSP and you simply have to pop open to start playing... that way nothing will get on my new psp

Get the Big Boss PSP. ^_^ That's the one I plan on getting.

Yeah, I have a nice case for my PSP. ^_^ It gets dust underneath it from time to time, though, so every once in a while I pop it off and clean the PSP.

Woah dude, fix your old PSP if you can! It's really simple to replace the LCD screen, I've replaced like 5 :3

oh don't worry. My dad also ordered a replacement for the LCD screen which we are going to send to my uncle in Venezuela (who is more experienced with electronics than my dad and i are) and he will do 2 things for us.

1. he will fix the psp
2. he will sell the PSP in venezuela which will fetch us quite a sum of money actually more than what we will spend on buying a new one.
