While a fine game in its own right, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is really the kind of game that appeals best to the hardcore fans of the earlier title, particularly those who played the game obsessively online. With that in mind, it's a shame that widespread reports over the weekend suggest Vegas 2's online multiplayer is almost completely broken in the PlayStation 3 version.
Kotaku reports that gamers have been finding it nearly impossible to connect to other people online, and when they do, they're reporting a number of bugs and glitches hampering the gameplay, including excessive lag. The complaints have been loud enough to get Ubisoft's attention, and they've commented with the following post on their forums:
"Just a quick post to say we are aware some of you are experiencing issues with Vegas 2. We are looking into this and will post when we have something concrete to tell you, in the meantime can I remind you all if you haven?t already please post in The Feedback Thread, this information will be invaluable in working out and addressing the issues you are experiencing."
Said "Feedback Thread" has rapidly been filling up with complaints. So far, the worst issues with the online multiplayer have only been attributed to the PS3 version, so it seems gamers playing Vegas 2 on the 360 are in the clear. Hopefully Ubisoft will get the PS3 version patched soon -- and have an explanation for why it was so busted to begin with.
