reality talent shows

Is anyone into reality talent shows? I like the singing and dancing ones like American Idol and SYTYCD (I even like old episodes of Star Search on DVD) - my latest favorite is Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann. I love that the judges are hooked into the teams because they are the ones that ultimately chooses who goes (if you haven't seen it, it's a show where you get to vote but you vote for Carrie Ann or Bruno and the loser has to kick someone off their team). If you're watching who are your favorites? I think that Bradley, Qis, and Zack are my favorite of the guys and Lacey and Mariel are my favorite of the girls.
 
My ma likes it when I watch American Idol/SYTYCD/Dancing with the Stars with her... I don't really care that much and have no interest whatsoever in voting.
 
I hate reality television with a passion. Although, I like American Idol because it isn't fake or scripted like every single other reality show.

not the people participating on the season ep where they show the "rejects". The judges are scripted. Simon - the British bastard (more people need to be like him). Paula and Randy - can't really think of what they are because they suck. Their not completely scripted but, they follow a script to an extent.
 
Oh, the judges witty retorts are probably planned out, but the singers' talent and which ones are chosen isn't prechosen whatsoever.

Talent isnt scripted yes. But, how bout the ones that suck. The producers prechoose the "rejects" because the "rejects" get ratings.

Awww. That's kinda cute. I guess they are kind of girl shows, which is why I like them. You should tell your ma about Dance War, she'd probably like it. Some of the male dancers on the show are incredibly hot. Like Zack and Qis.

I watch So You Think You Can Dance buuut that's about it.
 
I don't like reality talent shows in general, although I did enjoy the premiere episode of Next Great American Band. Not enough to follow it, though. I missed all the other episodes, and I don't even know which band won.

I dunno, I'm just a girl and I like the shows so I figured if a guy doesn't maybe it's a gender thing? I like So You Think You Can Dance a lot, esp. the hip-hop ones. I like the choreography on Dance War better because it's a group so there's more to it, and because I can still vote. I even joined the Dance War Fan Club, :lol

Um, yes they are. A coworker of mine went to Charleston, SC for the American Idol tryouts last summer. They go through two screening panels before getting to Simon, and gang. She made it to the second before being told that she wasn't what they were looking for. Was she bad? No. Great? No. Just "not what they were looking for." They weed out the "okays" and let the horrible and great ones go through. And even with the great ones, they cut them down so that it looks like there are thousands of pathetic singers and only a few good ones.

Scripted and bogus to the max. Even American Idol is not exempt from it.
 
Unless someone falls flat on their face. Now that's comedy!
