Reformatting Computer

Hey guys

I want to reformat my computer. Here is the problem. I have the product key, but I dont have the Windows XP cd that came with my computer. I have like 4 different windows xp cd's at home but they are all for Dells and I have a Toshiba. Is there anyway to use the Dell cd to reformat my Toshiba? or is there anyway to reformat my computer without the cd at all?

Its not that big of a problem I guess. Im just wondering if it can be done...
 
Well if anyone is interested this is what happened. I used the Dell Windows XP, and it worked. I reformatted the laptop and then reinstalled windows. The problem is that when I went to activate windows, it wouldnt let me use my product key because I used the Dell Cd. So I called Windows and they gave me a different key. So everything is good now. I finished installing all my games on my pc, so if anyone wants to play some online multi, Im game!
 
well... it depends if Dell adds their own drivers...etc.. to the CD's. If its just a normal installation CD.. your fine.

Personally.. I keep an OEM Win XP pro cd on me that I bought awhile back.... that way I can custom install Win XP pro.

Did the Dell cd contain all those retarded Dell program add-ons? I removed all the dell programs from my office computer... they were annoying as heck.

Haha no I was lucky

all the programs were on a seperate cd. So Im good to game now! :)

I think we need to get some type of multi player game going this weekend.
 
Heh. I can't wait to finally get my new computer. The only "reformatting" that my current one will go through is a barrage of shot gun blasts. Did I mention I hate Gateway computers??

yeah you did. And for anyone who can afford one I reccomend owning a Mac at least once.

I already have a Windows, and a Linux machine sitting here in my room.  Not much space left to put a Mac, though I can't think of a use for one anyway.

Well if you have a linux box then there is no reason to own one. But I do recommend one over a windows machine. The only bad thing about them is that the cant play most of the popular games, yet. Now that they are switching to Intel chips it will be easier to convert games to the Mac.
