Resident Evil 6

And it's official, November 20th, 2012!! This game looks like it has nearly everything fans have been wanting. The control scheme of the later REs with monsters and survival horror closer to the earlier games. It's not a complete throwback and I'm sure there will be people who still won't like it, but this is what I've been wanting for a long time.

Chris & Leon have their own stories going on at the same time and I'm sure they'll eventually team up. This will be my game of the year, I know it.

[RE 6 Official Trailer]

I've missed the past few iterations in the series but the trailer on RE6 looks pretty sweet.

Story line wise do I need to play the previous ones before I pick 6 up?

Really?... REALLY?!?!?!

To buy man, to buy!!
:lol yes... I had a bad black November in 2011... bought way too many games (For really cheap). I'm cutting back all sorts of buying. Heck... I haven't really had a chance to touch Resistance 3.

I think I did a literal fangirl squeal when I first saw this trailer with some friends. It's the best of both worlds! I hope it has the same replay value as RE4 (RE5 didn't do it for me). A definite purchase!

Well then, it's time to sell some of those games to make room for this one. You don't need any other games. :D

But I hear ya, I'm cutting back too. Not for a few months, unless Resident Evil is in the title. Then they will be purchased.

Whatever storyline there is is extremely convoluted and only makes sense if time travel is involved. There might be some references to past characters and events, but you won't be lost in the game.

Basically, they go like this: You're in an isolated location (or something), and there are zombies (or whatever), so kill them to escape and live (or save someone). Whatever happened before doesn't really matter.

I say play at the very least RE 4 & 5. That should not only get you accustomed to the control scheme, but it will add enough backstory so that the game makes more sense and, in my opinion, a bit more enjoyable.

If you actually end up enjoying the story, then I would recommend playing the other 3. Right now though, due to how they control, it might make the game frustrating. It doesn't for me, but I can see others getting to that point.

Haha, I just meant it doesn't matter in the sense that you won't be lost in the game or anything, you just won't understand the full significance of some things.

By all means, if you haven't played RE4 yet, I would highly recommend it. Playing it now might feel a bit dated in some ways, but so many modern games owe so much to that game, playing RE4 will in many ways help you appreciate what a lot of modern games do so well.
