Rock Band and Guitar Hero have more competition...introducing: Rock Revolution

Which probably doesn't sound like a good idea to the developers. Plus, cover bands are cheaper.
Cheaper, sure, but as many, many people agree, cover bands aren't as good, and doing a full cover band could turn off many people.

I don't think it will turn off alot of people. In Guitar Hero 1 and 2, I had a hard time figuring out who was a cover and who wasn't. If people actually pay attention to it before it releases then sure...but for the mass amount of people. They just see a game like this and immediately want to buy it.

And besides, the drums look like they are terrible. This music game fad is definitely getting out of hand, I don't care what anyone says.

Lol@fad. How is a niche genre finally being successful in a much more casual market a fad?

technically a niche can be a fad... and vice versa.

DDR was a fad... you don't see it around as much (at least I don't)... but DDR was also considered a Niche market to many arcade vendors...etc... that thrived on the success of it for the time it was very big.

It's definitely a fad. :lol

Ever since one company made Rock Band, the next year we have three games with drum sets and microphones.

Fads rarely make billions of dollars, nor do they remain popular for almost 10 years (since DDR). The whole idea with a fad is that it has no longevity, that it starts off huge and quickly goes away. That does not describe rhythm games.

I would much rather play DDR than to play Guitar Hero or Rock Revolution, DDR I can understand for being so popular, just like Karoke Revolution and Singstar, there are more songs and material that appeal to more people than just the same old fare of repeated Rock songs in the same Rock guitar games. Why cant we have marching band, and fanfare, and orchestra games, I think those would be just as exciting as playing the same 4 instruments now...Not saying that GUitar Hero and Rock band are bad, but im just sayin.

I say Konami SHOULD release a game like Rock Band seeing as Konami IS the one that first used Guitars, Microphones, and Drums. Why not let them have their go since they deserve it. If anything they are the ones that should do a game like this and not Guitar Hero. And hasn't it occurred to anyone that it is because Konami is a Japanese company is the main reasoning for the Cover bands.

Okay here's live video of the game in action and two songs to mention:

Scorpions- "NO ONE LIKE YOU"

Quiet Riot- "Come on feel the Noise"

Estenially, it's DDR in Rock Band form judging from the look and feel of the game.

I don't really like the scrolling look, but I can learn to live with it.

I played this game today and I gotta say, it's harder than Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

The notes move much faster than the other games. The notes look just you're playing DDR.

The biggest surprise is the song selection is enjoyable.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Revolution#Songs

However, like 75% of these songs we've played on GH and RB already

Honorable mentions are:

Metallica- Am I Evil?
KORN- Falling Away from Me
Breaking Benjamin- The Diary of Jane
MegaDeth- "Holy Wars...The Punishment Due"
Heart- "Magic Man"
Finger Eleven- "Paralyzer"
Three Days Grace - "Pain"
Soundgarden- "Spoonman"
Queen - "Stone Cold Crazy"
PANTERA- "Walk"
Rush - "The Spirit of Radio"

Rock Revolution has the dreaded think of no Master Tracks :( I prefer to only listen to the original artists or cover groups that sound exactly like or better than their original counterparts.

Are you sure, the last time i saw from Konami they were using all covers for the songs :( but then I could be wrong they could have changed it as you say
