The game is not a simple remake of Silent Hill 1, it takes place in the same town, you play as Harry Mason; but the story, direction and gameplay will be different and twisted from the original. The game also make use of the Wii Remote to interact with the environment and puzzle solving.
Check out the screen shots !! New Cybil!! The diner Harry wakes up in, looks AMAZING!
Essentially, it is Silent Hill 1, except much like RE Remake, it's revamped with a truckload of new features.
While Nintendo Power managed the official announcement of the Wii remake of the original Silent Hill as Shattered Memories, Konami handles announcing it for PlayStation 2 and PSP.
As mentioned in McWhertor's post on the Wii version, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a retelling of the original Silent Hill game, with the objectives shuffled about and the dialogue changed to keep gamers on their toes. Harry Mason is still looking for his missing daughter, but how he goes about finding her has definitely changed.
Especially in the Wii version, where the Wii remote will be used as a flashlight, a cell phone with GPS mapping capabilities (turn left to evil), and to pick up an manipulate objects to assist in puzzle solving.
Also new to the series is a psyche profile element, which will monitor the player's behavior - where they explore, the dialogue they choose - and modify visual elements and Harry's reactions as the game goes on. Depending on how it is implemented, it could me no two players have exactly the same experience, and if they do, they should totally get married.
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories will be release this fall for the Wii, PlayStation 2, and PSP.
Gamers who played the original will have their memories slightly shattered upon picking up this new version -- characters won't be found in the same spots and new clues, dialogue and gameplay paths will serve to jumble things up.
Another major change is the new "psyche profile," which monitors the player's reactions. Based on these reactions, alterations are made to the game's "visual elements" and the protagonist's actions as he encounters other people and creatures. The psyche profile system sounds interesting, but a bit difficult to fully grasp without seeing in action. Perhaps future gameplay videos will provide better insight into this new feature.
Re: SILENT HILL: Shattered Memories for Wii, PS2, and PSP! Released: This Fall!
All can say is thank you Konami for doing this thing right. Don't get me wrong guys I loved the orginal game but first heard about bring back the orginal Silent Hill I was afraid they were going trying to port the 10 year old game to the PS2 and PSP to shake some more money out of the fanchise rather than the proper remake that there giving us.
Yeah that seems like it could be real improvement also I'm glad there having Climax do it after the way Origins turned out I'm sure we will endup with a very good game.

Guys I read rumor om another board is it true that they aren't going to have any weapons in this game and were going to have try to dodge and run away from the monsters. Well if that's the case needless to say I ain't happy.

"According to producer Tomm Hulett, the way the story is told will depend on how players play the game with all areas being accessible. Combat has been entirely removed from the game in favor of evading monsters.[8] In the Wii version, the Wii remote will be used for puzzle solving, to control the player's flashlight and as a cell phone with GPS.[1]"

Thanks for finding the information Zidart.
I don't know if the game is going to have no combat I'm definetly going to have rethink my plans on buying this game. I'm still thinking I'll get but before I was already planning on getting both ps2 and psp versions now I'm thinking just ps2 and maybe wait and try to get it used.

Well I know they took some flak for Origins being the some old Silent Hill game I hope that's not part of the reason there screwing with the basic concept of the game.
Yet look closely at the first picture. Notice a familiar outfit on the right side? Also, it looks like Cybil is a lot sexier this time around! The first picture of Dr. Kaufmann has been revealed it seems.
