Slasher Films

Okay I know I had a thread about horror films a while back, but this one is about slashers in particular. Who likes them? Which ones? Or if you had to pick a top ten what would it be?

For me I will just list ones I like:
Psycho
Halloween
Friday the 13th
A Nightmare on Elm Street
The Burning
Silent Night Deadly Night
Scream
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Sleepaway Camp
Child's Play
Leprechaun
Black Christmas
Happy Birthday To Me
April Fool's Day
Prom Night
Valentine
My Bloody Valentine
The Hills Have Eyes
The Hitcher
I Know What You Did Last Summer
House Of 1000 Corpses
The Devil's Rejects

That was all that popped off in my head, I most likely forgot some I like. Now assume all the ones I listed were the originals. I haven't even seen some of the remakes, most I have seen and some were decent some should not have been made. Also I have seen most of the sequels to most of these.

I really want to see a few newer ones like Hatchet and Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. If anyone has seen these let me know how they were.

So yeah basically is anyone else in the same boat as me and love these movies. If so let me know which ones you like most. ;)

EDIT: If I don't have some you like listed let me know which ones to check out.

I consider Sword of Doom a slasher film, though, I suppose it's not technically. There is a heck of a lot of people getting mutilated and killed by the main character though, and it meets some criteria. So, that one. Sword of Doom.

There are few horror films I can tolerate, nevermind like, but the Silence of the Lambs always sticks out as a great one for me. I'm not sure exactly what makes a movie a slasher, or if this one is a slasher, but it's one hell of a movie. Anthony Hopkins was just plain disturbing

Love Devil's Rejects but 1000 Corpses was kinda corny. Glad they cut the Dr. Satan bit from the sequel, sad they all died in the end. Looks like no trilogy unless The Professor shows up again or something, which would be awful.

No love for Evil Dead? :'(

That's one I forgot! I know there are a lot I forgot.

I love Silence of the Lambs. BTW Slasher= massive killings, mostly teen mostly by a masked psychopath, for no reason and occurring in a short period of time most of the time. That's the general definition.

Does Scream count as a slasher?

I really liked that one. It's too bad the second and third Scream movies weren't as good as the first.

When it comes to slasher I'm inclined to say: "Friday The 13th Series"
"Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (Original)

To be truthful,It's hard for me to choose, when I watch movies like this I'm prefer the spooky element as well.I find today's movies like this overdo it when it comes to gore, there are so many elements that today's horror/slasher movies leave out.It doesn't take a whole lot of skill to make a flick where are there is is just blood everywhere, any clown can make a movie like that.Storyline and truly disturbing films are a dying breed, and that's a shame.
