Slot Loading DVD drives?

I've been having trouble finding these and being so desperate, decided to make this thread. The DVD drive i currently own has this issue with its tray, which only opens if you press the button AND hit it with your fist. i haven't found a way to fix this and when buying a new drive i dont want it to have this problem either.

tell me of any companies that still make these, and discuss whether theyre good/bad.

Newegg does carry slot-loading DVD burner drives (Click the Newegg banner above.). Is your DVD drive a standard 5.25" bay or a slim chassis drive? Click the Newegg banner above to check out their DVD

The best thing to do is find out what model drive you have in your PC. What OS are you running? If it's just Windows XP and above, bring up your Device Manager (Win+R, type in "devmgmt.msc"). Look under "DVD/CD-ROM drives". You should be able to locate the model of your DVD drive. Using that, you can hopefully find a replacement on Newegg.

Assuming that i can fit a slimline drive into a 5.25" bay, they both should work. And, as you said, i'll check newegg.

EDIT: now i know it shouldn't be a problem in finding slim slot load drives, but the question is, CAN i fit it in the regular slot?

If you can track down the same model, you shouldn't have any problems.

Even if it's a slimline and isn't the full 5.25", I'm sure either the drive, or newegg, will have brackets in order to fit into a full 5.25" slot.
