SOCOM: Confrontation Thread

As we revealed early this month, the May issue of EGM has a blow-out cover story on SOCOM Confrontation. Along with the loads of other Confrontation info in the story, you'll find a list of all the different special forces included in the game. Joining a special force is now a perk associated with joining a clan; solo players will still be able to play as either commandos or mercenaries, but special forces (and their associated uniforms, gear, and weapons) will only be available to clan members.
Only, er, we got the list a little bit wrong in the mag. So here, for the first time anywhere, is the complete, correct lineup of special forces available at launch, complete with links to Wikipedia entries for the real-life organizations.


Navy Sea, Air, and Land (SEALs, United States)
Special Air Service (SAS, United Kingdom)
Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK, Germany)
Unidad de Operaciones Especiales (UOE, Spain)
1er Régiment de Parachutistes d'Infanterie de Marine (1er RPIMa, France)

Might just get that then... Not really too fond of the SOCOM series though (well I wasn't too fond of MGS type games, but look where that got me :lol)

I can't wait for the new SOCOM. I'm sure I'll be whinning about lag and noobs when I am playing it online. :lol But oh well, I'm a sucker for SOCOM.

Man this SOCOM is going to rock, not for the online play but for the single player storyline involved from what ive seen and coming with a Bluetooth headset is going to make the purchase even better.

Proof developers ignore single player content to focus on multiplayer.

Well I'am not that much of a SOCOM fan myself but it is a "only multiplayer" game as it says in the article so that may be why they are focusing only on the online play. I am not to much of a *online* gamer like other people either, iam totally for the experience of the single player and I have noticed like you pointed out that games really arn't focusing on the storylines any more in games. I will even take a bet that Resistance Fall of Man 2 will have a very basic storyline like the first one and like they are already doing they are going to hype up the online game to make it seem like it is the best ever to sell the game. I will buy both games though since they do look pretty good, LOOK that is but who knows.

Thats very true, MGO is still pretty crappy HUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't been on it in a couple weeks.

You can't honestly say the focus on multiplayer hasn't gone up in the last few years. The Halo series, MAG, SOCOM Confrontation, all that.

Did I say that it hasn't? MAG is also an online only game from a studio that works on online only games. All I said was that there have been more games focused on single player than multiplayer at this years E3.

I'm just saying that developers are still focusing on singleplayer. I think the ones that do focus more on multiplayer usually try to make a quick buck, like most shovelware titles. But, they can still be good titles nonetheless.
